PS2 Blue disk problem!

Regarding the earlier PS2 games having blue disk, my PS2 can't read them? Is there something to do or is it my PS2 version that can't read them?
Another question, I ordered Onimusha 1 & 2 for $15 (both). Never played the game before but always wanted to. I was wondering if Onimusha 1 is a blue disk.
Thanks in advance.

Don't use a PS2 upright for one thing! A Microplay employee we know said the blue discs are lighter than the normal ones, and as such, they wobble inside and scratch the lens, also the original couple of batches of PS2s were made with cheaper parts in order to make it out on time for the release date.

Not only that, but using the PS2 regularly aswell doesn't make that much of a difference. The fact is PS2 isn't reliable, they made the product so as it'll start having bugs and problems after the warranty was already up. I'm not being a "fan boy" or anything, I have all three systems, this is only one reason why I use my Xbox more than I do my PS2.
MaxDam if you think you're up it, you could try maybe using google (I think) I remember reading off of another forum that there is a site that gives you instructions on how to open up your PS2 and fix this problem from never happening again.
Thanks!

The PS2 has several known issues with blue disc (PS2 CD-ROM) media. I'm pretty sure that the media has been phased out for the DVD (silver) media.
Several of the smaller PS2 games on DVD have been ripped and their file sizes can be smaller than the capacity of a normal CD-ROM (sometimes, as small as 200-300 megs for a DVD), giving more evidence to this "phasing out" of the blus discs.

Don't worry. I won't pay for it
The thing is that it is not a cleaning problem. That's the first thing I tried.
It worked fine when I had NBA Street 1. It is a blue disc and went all fine but after months or a year or two, Can't remember exacly, my PS2 couldn't read that game well(The only blue disc I had). Sometimes I could get the game to work after resetting the game 20 times, after a while it stopped reading it.
I will do what the link says to see if it works again.
The problem is blue discs are lighter and spin faster than regular DVD-Roms, so the magnets in the tray get worn down faster and can't hold them, resulting in scratched disc and laser...
to solve this, just apply two strips of scotch tape (approx. 5 cm long) parallel to eachother on two sides of the center hole, so they make an 'H'. I've done this with my blue-bottomed games, and they work perfectly.
this is an inexpensive, and safe solution to your problem

Thanks. This gives me something to do tonight :|
Guys, I did it! It works, but not exacly how he says, about the lens. When you turn it and you hear the click, it falls to the bottom, the blue disc or the regular ones don't work. you have ti adjust it manually until both work.
I plugged my PS2 and I had my blue disc and my regular one and I just kept checking until both worked. When the lens was too high, the regular didn't work and when the lens was too low, the blue didn't work.
I adjust the lens 1/4 hihger than were it use too and they both work perfectly.

yes indeed!
The thing is when I had my Dreamcast, My friends and I had long nights of Tennis 2k2 with four controller. I mean endless nights.
I sold my DC and I got the PS2 and the good thing is that Tennis 2k2 was on the PS2 aswell. Got all the controllers, the multitap but Unfortunatly it wasn't a regular one but a blue disc and the game didn't work. I bought another tennis game, Smash Pro Tournament 2 but it wasn't the same.
Now we get to play Sega Tennis!
Fun is back!!!!
