I'm going to be trying to play Mario Kart DD online. I have a wireless router hooked up to my laptop... and a website (warp pipe) says that I'll need a cross over cable hooked up from my Broadband GCN adapter to my laptop. Whats the difference between a cross over cable and a normal ethernet cable? Or are they the same thing?

Thanks in advance.

A crossover and a standard ethernet cables are essentially the same except for 1 glaring difference. That difference is the order of the wires.

On a standard Ethernet cable the wire order is 12345678. On a crossover cable the order is changed so that it can both transmit and receive on the same cable. So the order changes to 1,8-2,7-3,6-4,5. It allows for the cable to transmit and recieve between two devices without a hub or router.

Hope that helps ya.

thank you... helps a lot. So I'll need to buy a cross over cable and not a standard ethernet cable.

Yup. Try ebay, they're only like 2 bucks on there.
