try this method and hope it helps/works. spray some windex spray or foam onto the disc then use a tissue that is soft to get rid of the scratches and fingerprints. do not use paper towels because it will make the disc worse.
make sure that the disc is not wet and get rid off all the spray or foam with the tissue.

i use this method sometimes when my ps2 says disc read error. i clean it then it works. bingo.
