Explain what happened? I still have the very first one of the PS3s that was on the market. It is fully backwards compatible with all software and to this day it works fine. I've even watched movies on mine more than my normal player. Just wandering what happened and what model did you have?

i signed up on this site just to tell you that you have to download a demo.Once downloaded play it and press the PS button,the disc icon will be there i highly recommend the zuma demo.Do NOT format your ps3 and suffer the same fate as i did.You will need to do this whenever you wanna play a game

I just finished downloading Scarlet and then turned off my console to go chill with some friends. Came back and tried to load MK and it wouldn't recognize games anymore. I'm flabbergasted

I understand your frustration and your annoyance.

I actually had the fucking "Red Screen of Death" like almost 2 years ago and it ruined my entire system. I had to pay an extra 100 to get it fixed and it still came back messed up.

Once again i had to wait for it to be delivered and finally fixed. I haven't had any problems since, but, this stuff is pretty unpredictable.

I don't think your problem had anything to do with downloading Skarlet (or else there would be at least a few others saying the same thing), it was probably just a faulty console (again).

Anyway, this is not the forum for this thread, but, I can agree with you that SONY and PS3 does suck sometimes....really bad. I'm really sorry to hear about your problem. Try to get it fixed again (as annoying as it sounds, you really don't have that many options).

are you sure?Is the MK disc in? are you still playing the demo when you went to the XMB?If it's still not working there is a problem with the PS3 laser.

Yep, games in. I was using the dungeon seige 3 demo and checked the screen. nothing. i figured it was the laser that crapped out and thats a $100 part to replace. I'll probably bite the bullet and get it replaced but f*** that will be the second time replacing the laser on my second playstation. Ya man, I apologize for not putting this in the right forum. It wasn't Scarlet that did it (it's just the irony of finally getting her and never getting to use her because of THIS). I'm probably gonna bite it and get it fixed again. I just hate Sony now. Whether its their fault or not I've never had this much trouble with a piece of technology. Even Windows 95 computers held up better than this in their day.

My PS3 stopped playing games 2 summers ago. Some games wouldn't load at all, while others would go to the very first screen (usually the developer or game logo) but it would freeze there. To make a long story short, I bought a memory card, transferred all my data, and followed the steps on Sony's website to restore the PS3 to it's factory settings (or something like that). It's worked fine ever since. Have you tried that? All of your saved data will be deleted, so buy a memory card first.

I'll give this a shot however I think someone earlier in this thread stated for me NOT to reformat my PS3. He didn't say why though. Just said I would suffer the same fate as him. I'm at my wits end with this thing though so Im gonna give it a go. And as far as saves go, I don't have any games on the go other than MK so I'll put up with the loss. It's not like I did the challenge tower or found that much in the krypt yet. Thankyou, Im gonna try your suggestion.

This MK has been freezing my console with certain online attempts. Not desync. Just straight crashes it. My hard drive just died and E38ed my XBOX another form of RROD. I lost everything I ever earned in game, In every game.
Was lucky enough to have an internal memory unit with enough space to recover my profile.

Today, After several attempts between me and a friend of mine to get online... 10 crashes later, And not just for me. If I invite my friend, His crashes. If he invites me, Mine crashes. So on and so forth 10 times until...

His hard drive crashes. Be afraid, Be very afraid......

This was happening to me to. I'd load up MK online and it would freeze/crash super hard. Did it a billion times. Weird thing is I have (had) a ps3 and not an xbox

well, i'm also having issues with my PS3, as i tried to update the firmare only to have it install 30% then crap out. i called Sony's tech support and got some chick who thought maybe i could get it to boot in "safe mode" and when that didn't work, she told me i'd better send it in for repairs.

so i got the box to send it to Sony for repairs, but i'm waiting til i hear back from them. cause i sent them an angry letter telling them they owe me some kind of compensation cause it was their incompitance that fucked up my machine. so before i send mine in to get fixed i told them they better cough up something that will satisfy me

My xbox has been randomly freezing whenever I try to play online matches as of late as well. Thought it was just mine though.
