Well March 9th has come and gone, and with it the release of Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. I'm not going to pull any punches on this one. Here's my review Twin Snakes.

-First of, it is still the same game, just with the Sons of Liberty Engine, new cut scenes, and the voice acting was all re-recorded. Now unlike the Resident Evil Remake, no new areas were added, but all of the areas were beefed up with the improved graphics.

-The VR Training was completly omitted, which I thought was weird. I was kind of looking fowrd to some VR training before I went ahead with the new controls, but much to my suprise they weren't there.

- Like I said the voice acting was redone, but some charecters were voiced by new actors, which kind of annoyed me because I misssed some of the voices. Naomi no longer has that strong rooted accent, same goes for Mei Ling and Nastasha. Vulcan Raven's voice remained similar, but he wasn't as funny as I remembered him, he sounds much more serious and soft spoken just like most of the new cast. Infact the only voices that sounded like they never changed were Snake, Meryl, Liquid, The Colonel, and my favorite Revolver Ocelot. The one voice though that really annoyed me was Grey Fox/Frank Jager/Cyber Ninja. He sounded horrible, and half the time he spoke way too soft for me to understand what he was saying.

**Spoiler**
-Now I said nothing new was added to the game, but there were some elements that were added to the game that weren't in the old game, one of which is "assumed" Meryl's rape. Yeas you heard me right. Now In the old game she said she was tortured, never specifying how. This time around the line is delivered "After all the torture, and THINGS EVEN WORSE...And after all of the pain and SHAME, I still held onto one thing". Now they never flat out say she was, but they way it is stated it left that impression. Now I'm not saying it's a good or a bad idea to include it, but if you din't feel that she suffered bofore, you will now.
**End of Spoiler**

-The new cutscenes are awesome. There are a few that were simply put there do get a laugh (Revolver Ocelet dropping his gun during a trick; a guard unable to knock out Snake; A Genome soldier on fire). I don't think there was a single one where I either wasn't in awe of how cool the new chaercter designs were, or laughing my ass off.

-The control scheme took a bit to get used to (especially without the VR training) but eventually I got the hang of it. It comes off a bit clumsy at times, but for the most part it was very smooth.

-I'm just going to wrap it up here. It took me 10 hours and 18 mins to beat, and in the end I'm still pleased with it. As an extra they added a mini bosses fight mode wwere you can see how fast you can beat the bosses back to back. If just looking at Twin Snakes as a game standing on it's own I would say it's a 7/10, but knowing it's a remake it gets a 6/10. The voice acting, lack of VR missions, and the altering of the original script brought it down a bit. I knew it could never live up to the 1996 original, but it did a decent job at making a fun game. Vets are going to be a bit dissapointed, but if you never played Metal Gear Solid and you own a Gamecube, pick it up and have some fun with it.
