Haven't seen it yet, will probably have to sit on a long to-do list. Can't really tell if the heavy derivatives are gonna gel with me, or not. Taking the best of ideas we haven't necessarily seen repeated in a while is a nice enough idea, but risky. There's no shortage of half-arsed, hollow eighties references in pop culture right now. Falling short is gonna get real teeth grinding.

I just came across this side-by-side. Bailed after the first minute to avoid coloring my view of the work. The theme song is undeniably cool.

I see where you're coming from. I'm a big 80s buff as well as a huge cynic about today's movies, music, tv shows, etc. I found this one quite enjoyable. It pays homage to all the 80s movies you hear it's paying homage to, but you can't really tell, you just want to know what happens next and figure out the mystery. It has it's cliche parts, which I was not too fond of, but I would give it a solid 8 in watchability.

It's got that E.T./Gooneys feel to it but darker.

Loved the show.

- ‘Stranger Things’ Renewed at Netflix, Season 2 to Premiere in 2017

In a not-so-strange turn of events, Netflix has renewed breakout hit “Stranger Things” for a second season, Variety has learned.

Season 2 will debut in 2017 and will consist of 9 episodes, in comparison to the first season that spanned 8 episodes.

The Duffer Brothers will return as writers for the second season and will executive produce with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen once again. 21 Laps Entertainment produces “Stranger Things.”
