From what the manager told me.
The customer brought it many different 360 games, and they were all blank.
He said, someone used blank dvds and somehow was able to make labels over it so perfectly, you couldn't tell unless you scratched at it. No one noticed until, customers started returning the games, saying they weren't working.
Finally, the manager notice no 360 logo around the center of the game.
The employee who accepted the trade was fired and the customer who traded in the games, used a fake ID.

I would have thought the cost of faking the games that well would outweigh the trade in value at GameStop. What was this guy's net gain? Thirty two cents?

"Yes! This shall net me one miniature candy!"

YAY...a guy lost his job because some guy decided to be a resourceful dick!
I'm not stickin up for the guy or anything, he should have been a bit more observant when checking in the games. I just grow tired of the whole "Yeah, he totally stuck it to the man!" chatter. The reality is gamestop lost a tiny fraction of what it makes in a week and some poor schmuck is riding the unemployment line.

Agreed.
At the end of the day, some guy just got fired because of some asshole. This has nothing to do with Gamestop. Hate it all you want. These are employees that have to put bread on the table and make a living. I feel pretty bad for the guy that got fired. I'm sure the store didn't give him special training for looking at the disks either. It's pretty much "Is it clean? Yes. Credits." "Is it clean? No. Can't take this, sorry."

As a current employee of Gamestop, I agree with both of these statements. So according to some users I'm a cheap bastard........awesome. -.-

I too, feel bad for the guy that got fired. Losing your job is never fun. Especially when it really wasn't your fault.

I feel bad for the person who also got fired.
But, the person who did this, was clever in some ways.
And if you wanna talk about Karma. Well, in a way, gamestop in the past has screwed over customers in some way or another. While you or I, may have never been one to be screwed over. There are indeed some.
And I doubt with the amount of money, that GS makes in used games(which is millions if not in the billion mark) that this one time thing, will make a dent.
So, I don't support standing up to a company in this direction that he took. I still found the situation funny, but not with the person who got fired.

It's weird to me when people hate on GameStop.
It's like, they provide a service to you at a premium fee for anyone who is too lazy to go out and try to sell their own games themselves.
You don't have to go to GameStop. It's like when kids complain about how little value they get for their college textbooks at the end of the semester. There are other avenues for you to sell your books that have much higher recoup value. Except, in the case of college text books, they go obsolete way too fast. That I can understand complaining about.

Hate on gamestop is caused by them buying stuff at less than half of retail price.

I think more of the hate comes from the developer/publisher end since people tend to buy cheaper over expensive which means buying used over new. This means less profit for people that actually make and publish the games while more profit for Gamestop. The industry has tried to curb this trend by DLC/pre-order incentives on buying new games as well as locking out online unless you buy new (or paying digitally for an online code with a used).
I can't help but feel ripped off myself when I go to sell something I paid $60 only to get half that and then see the same used game sell for $50. It really discourages me from buying new or even buying games at all. I tend to rent single-player heavy games that I don't expect to have a lot of replay value from Redbox these days.

The thing that anger me is, if it was the manager for accpected fake 360 games then he or she would get told off but kept the job but because it was employee fault then it was fine for company to fire that person.

Just kidding. That sucks though
