So I decided to make a thread about the MLB trades since I couldn't find any (if there is, close this). I know alot of people aren't baseball fans, but I am. Me, being a Chi Sox fan, was shocked that KW decided to give Loaiza, an all star, to the Yanks for Jose Contreas (sp?) and 3 mil. But, now that I think about it, makes sense. Loaiza is not giving it 100% (only 88 mph fastball?), and he would have been a FA after this season ended. Jose was not liked by most NYY fans (most likely could handle the pressue), so he will most likely do better in Chi Town. He has a great slider and forkball, and with Maggs and the Big Hurt out for the rest of the season, maybe he will beef up our defenses, but we need an offensive boost.
And, I know most people will talk about the Nomar to Cubs trade.

I'm a Yankee fan, and you're right about Contreras. He couldn't handle the pressure. He was good against lower level teams, but would crack in big games. Anyway, I'm glad that the Yankees got Loaiza. He should turn his season around there. The WhiteSox made better in this deal. They got someone with nasty stuff, and he'll probably thrive on a team with less pressure.

Huh! I think the Sox lost out with Contraras(sp?), at least for this season. If they can sigh him next year then I'm sure he can work on his mechanics, but he's not gonna help you guys out the remainer of the season.

He has a contract with us for 2 more years, along with the rest of our pitching lineup. Do you think it's odd, however, that the day after we trade Loaiza, we end our losing streak?
