Since someone has a thread on the PS3, why not one about the next generation XBOX? Post all rumors and faqs here. Not too much has ben said about this system.

I was thinking Microsoft should do something off the chain. How about a chip instead of an entire new console! Kind of like a grafx card. You have the option of buying the new console or for a cheaper investment, just pop the new chip into your existing XBOX. Maybe I'm really dreaming!

I don't think thats such a good idea. Not many people would feel comfortable opening their Xbox to put something new in. It's a nice thought though! According to Stuff magazine (UK gadgets mag) the Xbox 2 could have an internal pc but it's only a rumour.

I think both Sony and Microsoft are putting emphasis on this ultimate home entertainment thing.
I had a VERY reliable sorce that worked for some company and said XBOX 2 will be call like X-Squared or somthing.

From what I read Microsoft is planning on taking out the hard drive for the next Xbox. IMO thats sucks ass. Having a hard drive let some games really push the Xbox which could have not been done in other systems.

It's supposed to use a flash drive, which works as a hard drive, but it costs less.

Damn that Xbox 2!! I still haven't seen everything that the xbox has to offer. It' supposed to be more powerful than the ps2, yet I haven't seen even a hint of its true potential. Those guys at microsoft are money whores. Theywill put out a new system every 3 years knowing they can screw good ol' Kiasyd out of a few hundred bucks. Screw them,Until I start seeing the xbox throwing some smoke I shall not surrender any more money to those bloody vampires.

Considering the fact that we still have not seen the potential of the XBOX, they should give it a couple of years to shell out more unbelievable games. Otherwise, XBOX owners are really wasting their money.

Thanks

PS3 and Xenon seem to be the frontrunners in the next gen console war

So I'll be buying both of these consoles when they come out next year and 2006

Ive lost all hope in Nintendo...they seem to have been goning downhill for the past couple years and dont seem to be a major contender anymore...except in portable gaming

I agree with Savior. Nintendo keeps losing ground. I didn't buy a Gamecube based on production complaints. The last Game Informer mentioned that Microsoft is still undecided on the hard drive as a bundle or attachment. Supposedly, Microsoft has issued a survey to gamers on the issue. I would definitely add my two cents.

Why 3 3.5 Ghz chips? That seems a little excessive. They could probably dump one of those chips and use the money for more RAM, because 256 MB is not all that impressive. I do hope for backwards compatibility, though.

As for the Hard Drive, I would gladly pay an extra $50 for the system if I knew it came with one.
