I don't know if everything in this movie was adapted (nor does it matter) but with what was offered I must say this is one of the greatest films I've ever seen.
The actors...superb. The fights...intense. The dialouge...amazing. The special FX...perfect.
It was a great movie all around. So much tragedy, sacrifice, and action. It really failed in no aspect.
Bradd Pitt and Eric Banna were magnificent (as always) and, along with the rest of the cast, delivered heart wrenching preformances.
If there was a but a flaw with this movie it would be the beggining. Then again I can't consider this a flaw when it was based on (and attempted or as far as I'm conserned succeeded) to stay true to the original poem/story by Homer.
Once again, the special FX were seemless in this movie. I think the only thing I really recognized as CGI were the ships. But that was only because I was told of it earlier.
In any case this film ceases to dissapoint and I must say, reading the reviews beforehand, that the critics have lost all touch these days. They can't recognize good movies anymore.
So in closing the film was amazing and I'm (just as with Van Helsing) definetly buying it on DVD.
Anyone else who has seen the movie please reply with your comments of the film as I'm very eager to hear your thoughts.

Yeah, man. That movie is totally gonna own. Keanu's best work besides the matrix, I predict.

I didnt like it... Te battles were kind of boring to me, the story was ok... but then again... it's a pre-written story! I thought it was only an excuse of a movie to put toghether all the actors girls go crazy for on skitrs and oil them up

I thought it was a good movie, but not perfect. It felt like it was missing something to make it LOTR calibur. I didn't think this was Pitt's best acting I've ever seen either, honestly. I also would have loved to see the Gods and Goddesses actually involved in the movie...oh well, it's still a movie DEFINITELY worth your time.

Funny. I thought Lord of the Rings wasn't up to par with this movie. Oh well. I guess we all have our views.

the movie was kinda drawn-out, but it kept to the play very well. btw, brad pitt did an excellent job. he showed the audience how much achilles hates agamemnon, and how skillful he is as a warrior.

I saw Troy today, and it was absolutely mind-blowing. The fight scenes were great, but the only thing I did not like was Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom being in the movie. IMO, they are pussies

I was VERY disapointed. Let me just sum it up like this, the book was better than the movie and much different for that matter.
