Were you happy with the end of Alien vs. Predator(spoilers)

I watched it Sunday night and I was surprised with alot of things. First, I was surprised that the Aliens were so challenging one-on-one with the Predators. I was also surprised that the Celtic Predator died second. I thought the Celtic Predator(the one with the hot mask) would die last. I was surprised that they seemed to double, maybe even triple, the Queen's size. Finally, I was surprised that Aliens were closest to being victorious. Obviously, the Predator was no match for the Queen and clearly won the battle for the Alien name until the HUMAN got rid of her.

So some questions for the people who saw it.

1- Were you impressed or not with the Predators?
2- Do you think the Chestburster at the end is a mixed-breed?
3- How exactly did the frozen Queen rise to that shaft and begin laying her eggs? It seemed like something moved her there.
4- At any point, did you find yourself rooting for the other character you were rooting for going into the film?

That whole movie was bullshit. There's no way a predator would lose against an alien in a duel. Although I liked the special effects they've done with predator. Now he can jog!

The best part of the movie was the predator's jump attack on the Queen Alien.

Sort of( liked the movie, thought the ending was ok I guess :.\). I know I counted 3 Predators at the begining of the film. After the 2nd predator died then the 3rd one got the Alien spider looking thing that inplants the alien into the body. I was sort of confused at 1st. I thought there was a 4th Predator for some reason. Near the I figured the last one was the same one that had the predalien inside him. I was happy with the end. I don't think the predators will have a problem with predalien on the ship.

1. Yes, even though they weren't as routhless as they were in the past.
2. Yes. In fact that mixed breed has been around for a while. It's even playable in the slightly aged Alien vs Predator 2 PC game. It's not the only mix breed. The was a Dog Alien in Alien 3.
3.An extravagant pulley system set off when the team of humans entered the pyramid, you even see what triggered it.
4.No. I wanted Predator to win from beginning to end. Sadly that didn't exactly happen.

I did like the movie however(**EDIT** at first), even with some of the cheesiness from the human teaming with the Predator. 7.5 out of 10 in my book....**EDIT** Well like I mention in a different thread I have changed my opinion on AvP. After a few days to let the movie sink in I'm really think I was generous with it. I graded it on the fun that I had in the theater from the unintentional laughs. New score is 4.5 out of 10.

the movie sucked IMO... the ending was so predictable, I called it the very hour I'd heard they were making this movie, months ago... of course they have an alien popping out of the predator at the end... this leaves it open for sequels and new franchise possibilities, and it doesn't disappoint either camp because it can be seen as a draw (see Freddy vs Jason)

That 3rd Predator was badass!

Just a little tid bit for everyone to consume....


Alien Vs. Predator

Production budget: $60 Million
Est Marketing Cost: $35 Million

August 13-15 Weekend Boxoffice earnings: $38,291,056

With that said, it's possible that AvP will earn approx $50 Million by Friday. And after it's second weekend, AvP could earn about $12-15 Million considering the new movies that will take a huge chunk of cash away from the movie. This could mean by it's 4th week AvP could earn well over it's $60 production budget, possibly near $80 Million which is pretty respectable I'd say.

With that said, it's very much possible the studio could greenlight a sequel considering the total take after it's theater run is over. We'll have to see.

I didnt see the movie but I heard that the Aliens fight somewhat like humans. jumping, punching, kicking etc. Is this true?

One Alien did a dragon screw leg whip on a Predator and another did a drop toe hold. Hell... I was impressed!tongue

Actually, the Aliens fought like they always Have. The Predators(2nd and 3rd) were the ones that threw down. The 2nd one did a Vandaminator. I started chanting "AvP!" "AvP!" LOL! Siketongue

One a side note, was anyone else confused with the Alien incubation length? Let me explain:

In the first Alien, it took almost an entire day for the Alien to be implanted. Once the face clinger(I don't know the proper term) dropped it was about 15-30 mins for the Alien to pop out. By day two it had reached it's full size.

In AVP, this was very different. From the time the face clinger grabbed the humans to the time it took us to see the full grown Aliens, it was probably done in under an hour(movie time, not realtime). Yet for the Predator it lasted a little bit over half the length of the film.

I don't know why I'm letting a little thing like this bother me, but it did a bit.

I loved the movie, but this one thing confused me as well. I figured the story that was written and shot was longer than the final draft (way too short for me) and that it all seemed a tad rushed. I hope the DVD is all extended. Other than that the Predators were cool, the Aliens Incubated WAY too fast, the humans were gone in about 3 minutes. I don't understand the whole alien/predator half breed at the end?? Anyone wanna PM me and fill me in I'd appreciate it.
But all in all I'd go see it again.

The book had more detailed information on the fights and such.
The Chestburster at the end was a PredAlien, so it is a mixed breed.Half and half, but stronger then both species.
The ending was no surprise for me, I mean most VS movies end up with no real "winner".

I have to classify Aliens as the winner since the Queen killed the Predator and then the girl was responsible for drowning the Queen. Just like I would classify Jason the winner in FvsJ, wether Freddy winked or not, Jason had the trophy in his hand.

AVP2 is going to be crap. It's going to be like a drama story. The little PredAlien is going to be cnfused the whole movie not knowing who to join, the aliens or the predators. Thus, the whole movie he is going to hve to fght for himself but when he is alone he is going to be upset and feel out of place and then he is going to sacrifice his life for peace between the two species an it will be a tragedy. LOL. bet you I'm right.

Actually the Predalien is classified as Alien. Just like the other Aliens, it doesn't matter what it came out of, it still is considered Alien. This happened in the past with the dog Alien from Alien 3...Also in AvP2 for the PC one of the Alien breeds to choose from is the Predalien.....But if you still want to bet, I'll put up some cashwink

Actually the Predalien is classified as Alien. Just like the other Aliens, it doesn't matter what it came out of, it still is considered Alien. This happened in the past with the dog Alien from Alien 3...Also in AvP2 for the PC one of the Alien breeds to choose from is the Predalien.....But if you still want to bet, I'll put up some cash
