I've been in the mood to watch some fantasy/sci-fi movies recently but, the problem is is that I haven't really watched very many before now so I don't know which ones to watch.

I realize fantasy and sci-fi are two different types of movies but I'll take either.

The things I have seen are things like, Twilight zone, Avatar, Never ending story, Lord of the rings, but do you guys have any more suggestions?

And to possibly make this thread better, write your favorite fantasy/sci-fi movies as well smile

my favorite Fantasy:
The Dark Crystal
Labyrinth (With David Bowie and a VERY young Jennifer Connelly)
My Neighbor Totoro
Pan's Labyrinth
Big Trouble in Little China
Princess Mononoke
Ponyo
Howl's moving castle
The Prince's Bride
Legend (The Tom Cruise one)
Conan The Barbarian
A Chinese Ghost Story (its not really horror... its like Chinese mythology)
Beetlejuice
The Witches, with Angelica Huston. Its a great fantasy film!

Also, not a movie, but I have to highly HIGHLY recommend this series (its on netflix instant watch... u got no excuse not to watch it): Jim Henson's the Storyteller. Its like 30 minute versions of amazing movies like the neverending story! CANNOT miss.

My favorite Sci-Fi:
Event Horizon
Sunshine
Alien, Aliens and Alien Resurrection
Rubber: The Movie (actually more comedy/horror)
The Fifth Element
Flash Gordon (oldie, but a classic)
Terminator 2
Total Recall
Akira
The latest X-files movie (not the first one... that one sucked)
Star Trek

These I havent seen but have heard nothing but good things:
Blade Runner
Dune

Fuckin' A!

Total Recall is probably one of my favorite movies ever.

In terms of Sci-Fi, Starship Troopers is a good one, though it certainly is not perfect. Alien is amazing, though it's a sci-fi horror, and The Fifth Element is also pretty good.
