Gamespot posted an article recently where the CFO of ATI has stated that they are winding down developemennt of the graphics proccessor for Microsofts next-gen console. With both Sony and Nintendo already announcing that they will indead show off there nex-gen consoles at E3 in May. While Microsoft not saying a word, and Steve balmer stating a few months ago that Xbox next will not be out in the next year, but still makes a possibility of after August 2005, and yet Microsoft still insists that they will beat both Sony and Nintendo to market with the nex-gen consoles. I was wondering what your take is on the next gen consoles, any of them.

My take is that I really beleive that Microsoft will indead show off Xbox Next at CES in January/February, a good 4 months prior to E3 and Sony and Nintendo showing off there consoles. I also believe that that with Microsoft just like the original xbox I think that they will have it out by October/Novemver 2005. No more than a year away. The original Xbox shiped roughtly about the same time, and I believe Microsoft was also able to get the Xbox out within less than a year of it originally being shown off, unlike Nintendo, and Sony whene they debut there last systems. It perfectly fesable and makes perfect sense if Microsoft uses exsisiting technology just like the original Xbox. now this leaves the posibility that Microsoft could have there system out 6 months - 1 year+ over Sony and Nintendo. Here in lies Microsofts problem I think though. If Microsoft does release there console a year prior to Sony and Nintendo they run the risk of widning up like the Dreamcast. Although I hightly doubt it since the original Xbox seams to have more than enough power that it could easily surpass anouther year on the market. With Xbox Next it could probably withstand a a full year on the market prior to Sony and Nintendo.

So what is everyone elses take on the Nex-gen consoles any of them?
