I like that epic battle scenes that involve sword fights bacause there's a historic feel to it that can't be digitaly enhanced. Braveheart, King Arthur, Gladiator are some examples.

I also like a good ol knock down drag out fist fight, but they're not don well any more. One good fist fight scene was in They Live.

Of course I can't forget the Hong Kong action that is not getting appreciated. The stuff the John Woo and other's do is really cool, cause it has it's own fluidity within the violence that makes it awesome to watch.

The Hollywood stuff would be good if people stop putting in so much CGI stuff.

Totally agree, but i like any Hong Kong action.
Car chases, if done right, are quite entertaining to me aswell.

I'm a man of the legendary one on one battles. I'm talking about fights that have been lead up to all throughout the film so that the two who are battling hace this deep tension that surrounds them when they fight. A great example of this is the battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in both the 5th and 6th episodes, pumped with all that emotion as well as the fight. The battle between Maximas and the Caesar in Gladiator was another great match as well. These would be battles particularly dealing with weaponry.

In the straight up hand to hand area, I have to say that few moves give you the true feeling of almost being in the fight in real life than the Rocky series. Great stuff. In truth I think there is something to be said for all kinds of action, since conflict is after all what usually makes a good story, but these two specific types I've mentioned are what I feel are the most well done in movies.

Powerful, horrible, rage-driven murders, like the scene in 28 Days Later where the main character shoves his thumbs through the soldier's eyes.
