What was your best concert experience?
What was your best concert experience?
Be it the middle of the mosh pit or box-office seats at the Opera House. What was it?
Well, for me, it would be a Linkin Park concert (gasp! Linkin Park? NOOO!) *ahem*, anyway, I had floor "seats", was one of the first in line, and managed to secure a stage-hand position between a crazed guy with a burst blood vessel in his eye and a chick with more metal than the T-850 and a continuous stream of flowin' F-bombs. Flash forward to the concert and the moshing. After feeling like my ribs have snapped and my lungs collapse (but still holdin' onto that front-row "seat"), it got hellishly hot. Man loses dignity at times like this, so people were just wiping their hot faces on the back of each other's sweaty T-shirts. About this time, after Story of the Year got us fired up, Hoobastank did their thing, then P.O.D. (where I was one person away on either side from gettin' up on stage and singing "Youth of the Nation". Blood-shot boy and G-string Girl got that nod on either side of me.) After P.O.D., some guy came on stage with a hose and soaked us with booze, which was rather nice, since I was about two seconds away from dehydration. After that (and hauling about three drunk skin-heads out), Linkin Park did their thing, which surprised the hell out of me. They put on a good show... which meant the moshing got intense, and I ended up with blood on my face (still not sure if it was my own or someone else's), while I put my feet against the stage and pushed back for about and hour and a half while 200 screaming LP fans tried to get front and center. I didn't mean to hit the fat chick in the face with my elbow, but, dammit!, she just wouldn't back off! As it got hotter (and the beer started to fermament), water bottles were thrown at us (two hitting me on the head and bouncing into the cutthroat mob). Face-pierce girl vanished around this time, but blood-shot boy kept with me and fought off the masses. When LP told people to start moshin' to "Place For My Head" and "One Step Closer", things went wild, and I dully remember three people being vaulted over my head, two topless girls being pinned against my sides, and my grip tightening on the guardrail. Then... it was over. We left, stunned to silence (about three or four unconscious drunks still in the floor area), and I blindly drove home... my kid brother and his friends yammering in the backseat all the way.
The pinnacle of society, right there.
Fatality.

Hands down Mariah Carey. July 29th 2003 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. I had 3rd row floor seats. It was so amazing. The first time I had ever gotten a chance to see her perform live and I was completely blown away. Her voice was like this explosion. It was just so powerful and mind blowing. I couldn't even believe it. And to actually hear here hit that high note. Absolutely amazing. I was in tears most of the time.

My best concert experience is also my only real concert experience (I'm more of an event going person than a cocert person). Pearl Jam at Nassau Coliseum a couple of years ago. It was an awesome set from beginning to end. The coolest part though is that they waited to play Bu$hleager until the second to last song (I was dreading it because I knew it would split the audience) and afterwards even though they got a few boos Eddie was able to win the crowd back over. They closed the show with Rockin in the Free World and the place went nuts.
Now as far as my favorite event goes that's simple: Survivor Series 2003 (Micheals winning the World title in the Elimination Chamber). All I have to say is that we were in the 15th row and it was Madison Square Garden.

Mine would be when I went to see Korn and Limp Bizkit with my brother and a friend. It was my first concert and we were on the floor. First some warm up bands came on and the floor wasnt moving much...Then as soon as Limp Bikzit came on, i think the intro was nookie or some heavy song, IT GOT INSANE!! the whole floor went nuts and I thought I was gonna die. I almost fell over like 5 times cause i was half on a step thing half off and also im pretty small...anyway i think the best song was Break Stuff...they told the crowd they were gonna ease things up a bit and play a slow song but then as soon as everyone heard the guitars everyone went nuts!!
So I was pretty exhausted after jumping around to Bizkit etc. I thought it was pretty insane...but there was a long long wait for Korn and everyone was getting anxious, and then finally they came on. They entered with Right Now and everyone went APE SHIT! I got a rush of energy and had some fun. Anyway...it was one of the best experiences of my life because Korn has been my favourite band since I was in about grade 3 and I am now going into grade 10 and I have always dreamed of seeing them live. Limp Bizkit is also one of my favourite bands...or i guess used to be, there new stuff is pretty shit.

I can't think of a "favorite" concert experience, really; the only REALLY big concert I've ever been to was Tattoo the Earth with Slipknot, Slayer, Metallica (who appeared only at the show that I went to), and a shitload of others, but that wasn't that great because I had seat tickets, so no real "action." There were a couple hardcore shows, but they were before I was really into hardcore so I didn't know that most of the bands there were actually fairly well-known (ie. Madball and All Out War).
Most of the shows I've been to were with local bands playing in VFWs and firehouses. None of those especially stand out, just a lot of fun moshing...although there was one band whose members (except the drummer) I went to school with, and was friends with; they had a couple songs for download on their website, one of which I really liked, and it became tradition at their shows for me to join them onstage to sing the bridge; the singer would often take this opportunity to jump in the mosh pit.
Then there was another show, where another band whose members I went to school with were playing; their bassist was a real novice, and before the band started, the bassist and guitarist (who's been playing bass longer than he's been playing guitar, and is incredible at both) of the band previously mentioned were screwing around on his bass, putting his skills (or lack thereof)
to shame. Then I asked to play the bass for a second, and played a little improvised solo (I don't own a bass, but I'm decent at playing it). At that point, the bassist said, "Oookay, I think we've all had enough fun humiliating me..." and took the bass back. Good times.

The day: Wednesday, November 12, 2003
The place: Downtown San Antonio, TX
The venue: Sunset Station
The tour: The Fall 2003 Jagermeister Music Tour
The bands who played were as follows:
Skinlab
Arch Enemy
Hatebreed
And of course, yours truly...fuckin' SLAYER!!
At this point, Hatebreed had just released their new CD, "The Rise of Brutality" three or so weeks prior, and Slayer was getting ready to put out their long-awaited boxset. The BIG highlight of this show is when Slayer played ALL of Reign In Blood. That's right! ALL 28 MINUTES OF THAT CLASSIC ALBUM, IN THE TRACK LISTING ORDER! That's how they finished off the show. Why is it my best concert experience? It would be the first time I ever saw Slayer. The next time I saw Slayer, though, I ended up getting Kerry King's autograph.

Prince. Everything about him is great, including the Chappelle's Show skit about him.

The Goo Goo Dolls concert would have to be the best one of the ones I've gone to. Standing Room only, had a bunch of tall people in front of me, rude people behind me, the thing couldn't have ended any sooner, but they played all my favorite songs. ^_^ And the opening bands were great, and so were the band members. :D

all my firends love dave say he the best blade. daves alright but i still say my best concert was in 2002 in saratoga at spac (saratoga performence art center) on july 5th with brian setzer opening and the main show was tom petty and the heartbreakers. i was in orchestra seats which was really close to the stage i was ten rows back. greatest show on earth. sold out.
i met Brandon Boyd (singer of Incubus) in the Frech Quarter in NewOrleans.. 3 hours before the show(honda civic tour: Morning View).. got 3 autographs and a picture.. and asked him if they'd do "Glass" for me.. and come show time.. he said that it was dedicated to the guy he met on the street that day. hands down best show.. (phantom planet opened for them.. when they were good, before they were popular)

Nickelback, in Montreal.
They were with Three Days' Grace and Staind.
It was bloody awesome. The sound was deafening. Everybody was singing along to the music. Man, those Canucks rock ! And they have HUGE pyro ! When fire exploded on stage, I could practically ~feel~ the heat, and I wasn't too close to the stage. I can only wonder how the poor drummer felt when the pyro went off...
At a certain point, the girls in the audience were throwing their undergarments on stage. I yelled "Show us your tits !" but nobody heard me because the music was too loud. A few rows from me, two drunken guys were apparently yelling the same thing.
Then, Chad said that it was "Beer O'Clock" and started throwing plastic glasses of beer for the audience to catch. Such throwing skill, almost none of them got spilled. I was thinking "Oh, calisse ! If a glass of beer lands on my head, I'm gonna beat somebody up !" Luckily, I wasn't hit.
Before the show, the voice that you hear (I don't have any other name for it, it's that voice that comes from...somewhere...) told us not to do body-surfing because there's been injuries in an earlier concert. Well, some idiot actually DID body-surf. He was coming right at me ! So instead of pushing himm along, I pushed him to the ground and he fell down on the cement from 6 feet in the air ! I laughed demonically but nobody heard because you couldn't hear a thing because of the loud music ! The guy didn't move for like 10 seconds, then got up and ran away...
The only downside of the show was that some fucking potheads were smoking weed a few meters from where I stood. I had half a mind to stuff the damn joint down their throats...
Overall, an awesome concert with awesome music and an awesome atmosphere. After it was over, my throat was hoarse from yelling too loud. For half an hour, I sounded like the Godfather. "I'll make you an offer you can't refuse...".

Without a doubt, Family Values 1997. It was on Halloween of all days. Other than the fact that the cops kicked Rammstein off the stage and damn near caused a riot, it was a kick ass show. Limp Bizkit was great, but Korn owned all. They came out dressed up in costumes, Jonathan Davis as Alice friggin Cooper.
I was on the floor... It was just nuts. After they walked off stage, people started leaving, but I was htinking to myself, "man, that can't be it". I made my way to the front of the arena, and sure enough, the enitire stage rotated around and standing there was Limp and Korn, they broke into All in the family and everyone rushed back towards the stage. It was awesome... About 2 minutes into the song Fred just jumped up and started chucking eggs at Korn. The first one went to Head and busted all over his guitar, he stopped playing and the looked up with this priceless look of "You little fucker".
It was a great time.
Next up would have to be the yearly HFStival. A concert put on every year by a radio station in DC. Normally held at RFK stadium which is an open top stadium. Normally there are bands playing all day for one day, this was the first year they decided to make it a 2 day event. With such bands as Linkin Park, Green Day, Staind, Sevendust, a local bands stage out in the parket lot, and even a Rave tent, there was plenty to do.
Green day is the shit live! And the band Live, was great as well. Not my general taste in music, but a great Live band none the less. Staind absolutely rocked the place though. This was right after Break the cycle came out. Sevendust was also great live. They really know how to work a crowd. They had and remain to be one of my most favorite bands, so finally seeing them in concert was great.
Anyway, 12-14 bands per day, for two days, going two years in a row.... Yeah, I've seen a lot of bands in concert.
