What would a possible buyout mean to the MK series? Being a violent series, would the new owner/majority share holder require them to remove some of that violence?
It's not unheard of. EA bought Virgin Interactive and canned the Thrill Kill project. Depending on your opinion, this may or may not have been more violent than the MK series at the time of release.

Yes, the MK series appears to be a cash cow on the console market. Would Redstone realize that tampering with the game would have a major adverse effect?

I would certainly hope this is realized! I mean if you take away half the stuff that makes MK great then I don't think sales would be that good. I don't think that they're stupid, surely they must realize this. They should adopt a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" Policy.

The guy from Viacom who wants to hold more shares in Midway already owns a majority percentage. Considering he is from Viacom, who owns MTV, I highly doubt he will remove violence from the game. Even so, I think it is irrelevant to think this guy will have any creative influence on ANY of Midway's titles simply because he just wants to make a ton of money. If Team MK told him that having purple bunnies on the cover of MK:D would make it sell more, he wouldn't give two farts to the wind ... so long as the game rakes in the big bucks.

Ya, I seariously doubt any creative material would change. If anything, the management, PR, and HR would be affected.

Mortal Kombat is such a lucrative franchise that the new owners wouldn't dream of yanking any components.
