Which had the better cast? Left 4 Dead or L4D2?

Was actually having a discussion with a friend of mine about this the other day and we really couldn't come to a consensus because both games have great casts.

L4D: Bill, Francis, Louis, and Zoey.
L4D2: Coach, Ellis, Nick, and Rochelle.

Francis and Ellis are my favorites from their respective games. Francis just because he's a crude biker that hates everything, literally. Ellis because he's unintentionally hilarious with his stories and banter.

Anyway, what cast do you all think is better?

left 4 dead had a better cast than the 2nd game.
the mosters were better in 2.
the guns were better in 2.
1 had better custom maps and better levels overall.

my 2 favorite characters are zoey and coach.

L4D 2 may be better game but L4D cast is just better.
