I was reading a featured article on the game in the may issue of OXM, and from the looks of it if EA can pull it off, they could really get into the fighting games area. Unlike recent fight titles that have fell short Like Kakuto Chojin, and Tao Feng. EA was also the first to actually do a console FPS right with Golden Eye. From what the artcle says there going in a complely different direction, away from wrestling and going with a street fight fighting game. There will be blood and gore, and EA isn't going to sacrafice a "T" rating fir it, there going with an "M" rating. As for a fighting game, there will be fatalities in some form. In a blatant rip-off/Homage to MK in one of the levels has you fighting on a subway plaform, and you can knock your opponent off of it and onto the tracks in front of an incmming train during th match which will kill them letting you survive till the next match. Not to mention if your into rap or hip hop, even a little bit, theres going to be 35 character around this time. With new character Snoop Dogg, and Carmen Electra.

So what does everyone else think about the premise of this game so far?

Sorry, about that. I thought that EA had done it since they've done the latest ones, but now that you mention it you are right, but I thought EA at least publish it? And Rare developed it.

I love just about every game EA has ever came out with, in fact, my favorite right now is Fight Night 2004 (kicks so much @$$) Anyway back to the point, Def Jam Vendetta was a pretty entertaining game, you didn't cover much of it at all, there is supposedly alot more multiplayer match types including weapon matches :) I'm looking foward to this game, the graphics look stunning aswell... Oh btw, it's not Def Jam Vendetta 2 it's called Def Jam Fight For NY (lame but true)

EA is making the new Goldeneye though but you play as a bad guy.I think Nintendo published it since Rare was once Nintendo's 2nd party.Fight for NY sounds more like the Special Olympics.Or like a low budget comic book. There is a Demolition mode in DJV2 also where you beat up cars kind of like Street Fighter II.

Here is a lil' article straight from gameinformer's site...

"EA announced that their upcoming brawler Def Jam Vendetta II has gotten a name change and will now be known as Def Jam Fight For NY.

Currently in development under the EA GAMES brand, Def Jam Fight For New York will feature more than 40 of the most well known artists and personalities in hip-hop today. Including Busta Rhymes, Carmen Electra, Lil' Kim, Ludacris, Method Man, Redman, Sean Paul, Slick Rick, Snoop Dogg, and many more.

The ultimate in hip-hop fuelled fighting games, this will challenge players to step into the shoes of a ruthless street fighter battling for control of New York's hip-hop underground. The game will feature an all-new fighting engine including weapons, interactive environments, and five unique fighting styles that can be combined to form dozens of customized hybrid fighting styles for the ultimate edge on the streets.

Def Jam Fight For NY will be published and distributed by EA for the PlayStation 2 console, Xbox, and GameCube. The game is being developed by EA Canada in conjunction with Japan-based AKI Corporation for a scheduled ship in September 2004. This game has not yet been rated."

These screenshots are horribly impressive. Among the best screenshots I've ever seen for a game. They look just about impressive as The God Of War and KillZone.

Good stuff...

Ya, I'm looking forward to it. Never played the first one. This one sounds to be shaping up to be an actual fighter, so I'll have to peep it. I'll down that trailer if it's not to big and doesn't interfere with my asian downloads tongue.
