I am a long nailed man, and i am not gay, nor a lunatic (i guess not..).

My finger nails are Vampire-like nails, i keep them kind of short, not to hurt anybody, because some months ago i had my nails really long and sharp and i was really drunk. I got drunk as an anti-depressive threatment (it does not work), and at a point, i started being violent to myself, and i sliced my neck various times with my nails. My friends stoped me and grabed me, for me not to hurt myself seriously. I was lucky that it were just superficial cuts.

So, since then, i keep my nails shortly sharpened, still somewhat long as a vampire, and sometimes painted in black, but surelly not as long as in the past.

I have to keep my nails short, not for the reasons above, but because when your nails hit the strings on a Bass it doesn't sound right, or good. So I have to keep them short enough so my nails don't touch the strings when i pluck the Bass, but if I had the choice i would grow out my nails, life would be so much easier that way, especially stratching!

I want long nails, but I have 2 problems, I bite my nails, and I jam my nails into my palm when I make a fist sometimes.

Nails also help to hold joints when they get down, if you don't have any roach clips.

I dont grow long nails because i have a nail biteing prob,sumtimes i dont even know im doing it.

I hate my damn nails, they grow too fast, and I just remembered I had to trim them down when I saw this thread!

I don't mind the fact that men should kind of grow out their nails. But um... they know how to scratch at you, and that hurts. I sort of had a fist fight for fun with one of my guy friends and he has long nails... let me tell you, a little deeper and I would have had stiches. As long as you don't get into fights with men that have long nails, I don't see the problem with that.

Just don't paint them. I can't stand it when guys paint their fingernails, even if its just black nailpolish. That doesn't look right at all.

I used to paint my nails in black. But now, i love them like that, natural coloured.

On topic ~ Long nails isnt a gay thing. its a drag queen thing. i myself think long nails are gross and disgusting. anytime i see some one w/ long nails i want to chop them off. i cant stand them it drives me nuts.

But, like when carrying most other unconventional styles, no one is gonna force you to change. So go for it, if you want to have long nails, imo.

Maybe an employer might tell you to trim them because it makes the company look bad or something like that, but I think that's as far as it'll go.

There are alot of things that society frowns upon, doesn't mean you can't do them though. just means you have to know in advance that if you do certain people are going to look at you like your less than them.

I don't know. It's not very bright. It's just logical to have long nails. I have long nails because it means I can tear half of somebody's face off without barely trying, which is far more effective than trying to bludgeon somebody with your fists because it's like having razors attatched to your hands, you don't even need a clean shot. I'm barely 60kg soaking wet, yet I mauled somebody who I know for a fact was 6'5" and about 270 pounds. All I did was flick my fingers at him which gave me ample time to kick him in the face half a dozen times while he was busy wailing and crying about his split eyelid. It's pretty funny.

Although I only have nails on one hand now because a) it's hard to play guitar when the fingernails touch the fretboard before your fingers touch the strings, and b) girls aren't very keen to let you stick your fingers inside them when it looks like you'd leave clawmarks on their uterus.

Who gives a shit what people say anyway. Everybody is stupid. Evidently.
