Honestly, I don't know exactly if working out before bed is "harmfull" or not. It keeps you up longer than usual, though. Also, when you work out early in the mornig - when you get up - your metabolism is greatly increased; which is obviously a good thing. Since you would NOT being doing this, you would not be getting the full effects of the work out. Technically, that is not a good thing.
I'd like to say that any kind of work out or excersise at anytime would be a good thing; working out is good for your health afterall, but, I doubt that's true when it relates to your sleep.
Seeing as how you are working graveyard -
- that alone has potential to be unhealthy because it rapes the REM of your sleeping cycle. Also, if you work out when you're tired, there's a greater chance of injury; considering that you are already fatigued from graveyard -
.
If you weren't working those hours, I might say it would be okey, but I can't do that. I honestly think it could be "potentially" harmfull. Though, it all matters on how you approach your workouts, too. I'd cunsult a doctor or trainer if I were you.
BTW, would you be going to an actual gym? Powwer lifting, or what? If you're just going to do some push up, ab work and some yoga shit to warm down with, I see no problem with that. I would seriously consult a profesional, though. Seeing how your work schedule would prolly be the determining factor.

It's not ideal but it's better for you to work out at any point in the day rather than skipping it all together.

Well i wouldnt do it before going to bed. Your heart beat speeds up faster and you get all energized so its harder to go to bed and try to sleep. Maybe do it about 1 hour before going to bed. The ideal time to work out would be in the mornings though.
Another thing, also if you already work your body to hard throughout the day and you get home tired and get ready to work out, i dont recommend working out later that day. Its best when your body is rested, that way you'll get better results since you wont tire as easily.

As someone said working out during the day is ideal, but working out at night certainly is not harmful to you, in fact the main benefit to working out at night is it keeps your metabolism up while you sleep which is the time it normally slows down.
The only catch thought is that once you workout you're supose to put carbs back into your body after a workout. At night I would advise a snack, not a meal.
I jog in the middle of the night before I go to sleep. So not much effort there. But just judge how intensive your workouts so you can judge how much carbs you want to put back into your body.
If you couldn't tell I'm Anti-Adkins

I usually do my set of pushups, situps and pullups at night a few hours before I go to sleep.
According to my "source", whom I believe to be fairly experienced on the topic, it's better to work out in the morning or afternoon, because that is when your metabolism is at it's peak. Mild to intermediate exercise is okay before sleep, provided you drink a good amount of water along with it, but any kind of heavy aerobics or weight lifting is not recommended because it can cause heart strain.
PS- And when I say "source", I really mean "mother". She's a nutritional therapist ;)

Good explanation. Ideally, you would want to work out as early as possible in your day to reap the benefits from the sped up metabolism, but if I had a choice of working out right before bed or not at all, I'd definately work out. Here's another useful tidbit: if you ejaculate in the morning, your body will produce higher levels of testosterone all day long. That is why morning sex is my fav. If the wife isn't feeling it, then I take it into my own hands, literally.

I'm a cow consuming machine! God bless beef. Yeah, but I hate fad diets in general. I stick to regulating my food consumption and exercise. If I go to Whataburger for lunch I won't have fast food again for dinner and vise versa
