Does anyone remember Altered Beast?
Back then it was on Megadrive.
Then in PS2, it went to Project Altered Beast without connections to the original in 2005.
Then on Game Boy Advance, it went to Guardian of the Realms for 2002.
I wish this franchise came back. Maybe into a hack and slash/beat'em up game franchise. Even a reboot.
From the Hack and Slash games, we've seen...
- Devil May Cry
- Ninja Gaiden
- God of War
- Prince of Persia
Anyone got any ideas?
Here are mine...
Story and gameplay that can connect with...
- Bloody Roar
- Devil May Cry (classics)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
What are yours? Now its your turn.

I have fond memories off it (i found it brutally a difficult so I never got that far)
I'd like to see a new entry in the series brought into the modern era, I like the ancient Greece style, not the modern style from the PS2 game.
A 3D beat em up like the Arkham games would be a good fit, being able to change through monsters/animals at will as opposed to just being one creature for one level, then one for the next.

I think the transformation mechanics should be more akin to the original where once you get three orbs, you would change into a random beast - which I think should be the original ones plus a few more (maybe the UWH from Project Altered Beast).
I do like the Ancient Greece feel, so I think they should go with that. I also feel that the game would be better off as a top-down beat 'em up with lots of enemies on screen at once (think Dead Ops Arcade from BO or Super Smash TV, which most likely inspired the former).

Mega Drive port was a crushing port, but it's a high concept that can work on just about any frame -- if done right. It's the kind of thing that very quickly goes bog standard if there isn't enough investment (possibly the case with the hack 'n' slash revival), but the change-o-presto animal morphs is a simple enough concept to make it overdue for a legitimate franchise.
Expand the world around it, keep weight and some gravitas to the beast changes, and avoid indulging repetitive mediocrity, and you're on to a winner. Like a lot of games vying for attention in stuffed and played out genres, I think it probably just needs a really good story driving it.

But what if... in the modern era, a descendant of an altered beast/chimeric hero from ancient Greece is the main hero?
Doesn't know much of his heritage he takes part of the experiment that'll unlock his potential. This one would be from America/Japan
Maybe there can be others as well. In China, France, Britain, Africa, Mexico.
I'd like the classic Devil May Cry 1, 3 & 4.
For the bosses, they'd be genomic animals that are mutated into enhanced intelligent monsters, the hero must face. And the final boss would be like grotesque chimera.
I'd see like two heroes like Dante & Vergil. Not as twins. Just ordinary brothers.
Hero - Werewolf, Yeti, Merman, Garuda, Minotaur, Nemean Lion, Dragon
Anti-Hero: Vampire Bat, White Tiger, Phoenix, Naga, Centaur, Mandrake, Kraken

Plus the enemy animals would be like how the ninja turtles series is...
Humans turned into the animal they touched. And animals turning into something humanoid after being touched by a human... due to the ooze.

If it came back as a hack & slash/beat'em up game, that'd be fun to play with.
I mean we've seen...
Hack & Slash
- Devil May Cry
- Ninja Gaiden
- god of War
- Prince of Persia
- Darksiders
- Assassin's Creed
- Bayonetta
- Metal Gear Rising
Beat'em Up
- Infamous
- Tekken 5's Devil Within

I like your ideas, but I'm not really into it being too much like DMC. If I did, I would go ahead and play that game instead of a generic copy of it. Other than that, your ideas are pretty great! Btw, Assassin's Creed isn't a beat 'em up.

Anyone else want altered beast to be brought back?
If Sega wants nothing to do with it, give it to another gaming company.
Bandai Namco? Capcom? Konami?

How about a new game with half the same system as Altered Beast?

I wish they start a reboot again.
The last one did suck and the transformations were too gory.
And I would want an intro to be like with this song:
Blue Stahli - Ultranumb
