I hear some people say they really didn't like Injustice. People who are huge NRS fans. Is this simply because it wasn't MK? NRS wants to make more then just MK. I liked Injustice because it was a good fighting game with some of the best DC characters. I hope NRS does MK maybe ever other or every 2 other games. LIke now after MKX is out, do Injustice and some other game then go back to MK. Because do you REALLY want a MK every 2 years? Do you want it to become like Assassin's Creed or CoD?

I'm a big superhero comic fan, a big Mortal Kombat fan, and a big fighting game fan. For me - Injustice couldn't satisfy any of those aspects and that was the issue.

If you come at it superhero-first rather than game-first, superheroes don't really thrive in a balanced side-to-side fighting environment. They're at their best when they're free moving, chemically reactive (power vs power) and just generally breaking all the rigid rules of a well made fighting game setting.

One of the joys of the superhero experience is also volume, excess and characters. I don't associate NetherRealm Studios with going the extra mile in their games. As a DC superhero fan, the game fell well short of the material it was borrowing from -- or not borrowing from, as was frequently the case. Very shallow premise, very unremarkable story, very mediocre representation and/or construction of characters, and a generally tepid experience.

Beneath the dressing of it all the game itself had some interesting details, and I think Mortal Kombat X has been the benefactor of some of that experimentation. Some interesting ideas have been carried over from Injustice, but more so, it feels as if the approach to design and some of the mechanical thinking has just been let more loose and free. It obviously took some of the virtues of WB's connections and resources a step further, too. That just isn't enough to make for a satisfying experience, and it showed. Every dedicated MK site experienced significant traffic drop-off during the Injustice years. MKO weathered the storm better than most, but even we took a notable hit. It's great that the masses flood back in for MKX, but I wonder if the hot & cold approach is worth it.

If NRS are serious about diversifying, I'd like to see them get away from fighting games all together. Develop a game in a different genre. We've been talking about a Shaolin Monks sequel or genre installment for a long time. There are other types of games they could explore and build with. In terms of diversifying, it was just a hollow sentiment. A lot of talk about the differences between Injustice and MK, completely undermined by the obvious similarities.

Injustice obviously found a big audience, but from a critical perspective, it was a jack of trades but a master of none. Lukewarm.

I think because MK 9 left on such a cliffhanger, people were expecting a sequel too soon.

I didn't think Injustice was bad, but it could've spent more time being polished. DC hasn't had it's own fighting game in almost two decades and Marvel was going large with Marvel vs Capcom throughout those years.

Injustice just falls in the mediocre category in almost every aspects. It's just stupid to throw in superheroes against each other in an MK-like 2D fighting system.

Had this been Arkham fighting game, it would have done much much better...

I liked Injustice, hell in terms of gameplay only I think I even liked it a bit more than MK9, but MKX defecates all over Injustice in every category for me.

I actually liked Injustice...until I found out Power Girl wasn't going to be in itfurious
Anyone who says Injustice is bad is nuts. It improved upon the MK9 system dramatically, it introduced ideas implemented by MK X(they were that bad) and it got more traction in the FGC than MK9. I personally loved the game and appreciated the different ways to build combos. MK9 just didn't have enough of what Injustice had to offer.

Injustice came and went much faster than MK.

I think that's highly debatable. The last year EVO featured MK9 was like a pity inclusion. The number of entrants was also incredibly low.

I'm not a huge comics guy, but I absolutely enjoyed Injustice. A couple thoughts...

The story was what it was. The moment I found out it was gonna be some alternative universe stuff, I didn't expect much.

The gameplay was great. It was interesting to see NRS messing around with gameplay that they'd never really tackled before. Grapple characters, while not overly complex, were a joy to play in Injustice(GRUNDY FTW!).

The rise of 50/50's, for better or worse, were at the very least, something new. NRS has always favored a game anyone can play, I guess a guessing game is as easy as anything.

Interactables were probably the most controversial inclusion and in all honesty could've probably been toned down.

As much as I enjoyed the game, I will concede that the game lacked impact. Everything felt really light and fast. Even super moves, which had style for days, lacked weight.

Also...where was Swamp Thing?wink

The tournament life of this game was pretty much par for an NRS game at this point. NRS' break neck production schedule is probably more to blame than the game itself. If the game is just left to the winds by the devs, tournament runners will probably do the same(which is why NRS' support of MKX beyond 2015 should be looked at as a good thing). In fact, despite the game's "demise" on the tournament scene, Injustice will be featured at KIT.

I look forward to whatever NRS gets into next. Injustice deserves another shot, and I hope it gets it.

I enjoyed Injustice. It is certainly different from MK. Just wish the Storymode for both could be alot better. Apart from one game having Super moves and the other Fatalities, Injustice was better than MK9. Injustice 2 could possibly overthrow MKX.
