on the same time this game was revealed, boon hinted about a game mechanic that during the match a player could activate it and both fighters would start running at each other and the looser gets his energy bar drained off, something along those lines.

But in recent gameplay videos we have yet to see any of it. For example in battle arena every character has used his or her special move, literally every fighter. This fact tells us that whoever is in charge of what goes on during a battle arena match is trying to show off the aspects of every character that just so happen to stand out. The most logical reason they haven't shown this wager system is that they took it off from the game. I remember that someone from netherrealm said that they might just do that

TL;DR it hasn't been shown since a while in development so I think it's gone what do you guys think

Yeah I remember somewhere mentioning that it might be removed, so they might have proceeded with that. Or they could still be working on the system to make it translate well with the fighting... Either way, I'd want some form of breakers included.

It makes sense that they aren't included in the Battle Arena videos. They are meant to show off the individual character specific moves, specials, combos, and supers etc. The wager always looks the same.

Secondly, I believe I saw them in recent gameplay. There was a tournament in France if I remember correctly, and I believe I saw them done in that footage. So I don't think they've been taken out.

May we have the video?

The videos aren't showing up for me, not sure if it's a browser or forum issue. I thought it was in one of the videos from that tournament. Though, it's worth noting the build they were playing on is 5 months old. So even if it is in there, it's not really confirming anything at this point. Either way, I don't see why they would just drop a feature like that. Though, I don't know if I like the feature personally, not quite sure I understand how it works exactly. Guess we'll just have to wait and see, because we haven't really gotten any gameplay videos recently beyond the Battle Arena ones, and those are used to show off characters, not the wager thing.

I always wondered what Nightwing said during the wager thing. Does anyone know?

The response to the wager system was overwhelmingly negative, so it wouldn't surprise me if it got cut. So long as there's an option to turn it off, I wouldn't mind seeing it in the final game.

The last thing I heard was that they were going to keep the clash system but change how it works. I'm guessing we'll see a trailer on it down the road.

I hope it wasn't cut. Hopefully it can be turned on or off.

I mean, every character had unique dialogue for every opponent. That's a lot of VO gone to waste if they cut it completely.

Absolutely agree. Two things that would have enhanced the game-by-game experience of MK9 would have been match-up specific intro dialogues and alternate costume renders for the versus screens. When MK10 is on the horizon, I'm going to rally hard for the latter.

I'd want to see both of those ideas. When Scorpion fights Quan Chi or Sub-Zero he'd say something unique.

This wager system sounded lame to me. Something like this is not gonna jive with the FGC. I understand wanting to be innovative and new, but anything that detracts from player skill is a no go. It would turn out jut like the gem system in sf x tekken. It's a bunch of gobble gobble jive turkey gobblers trying to reinvent the wheel. #harbaughjive

It has not been removed, just changed: The Clash system can now only be performed once, and the fighter busting it out has to be down to his second lifebar.

It's unofficial, though. So shhhh....
