Hey,

I was watching a recently released documentary put out by WB called "Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics". It was a fascinating glimpse into the minds of characters like the Joker, Luthor, Cheetah, and other heroes' rogues galleries.

Anyway, about 1 hour 12 minutes into the movie, Ed Boon chimes in with his opinion. It makes sense since he's not only been a fan of superheroes forever but has also worked on both MK vs. DC and Injustice, so he has that insider's perspective.

Here's what he had to say, concerning super-villain team-ups:

"Normally, villains are seen as individuals and they have their own personal plot to take over the world or something like that. But the idea of them combining together makes their threat that much bigger."

Wow.

Pretty much. lol

Even more so, I somewhat disagree with Boon. I've always saw the teaming up of individual villains to be what leads to their ultimate downfall. A villain is best on their own. It's the heroes that need teaming up.

Depends on the villain type I guess.

If there is some filial connection than that may be done in a way that actually accentuates their multiplicity. A good example would be Alpharius and Omegon from the Warhammer 40K world, twin Primarchs (genetical template and super exemplar) of the Alpha Legion. Actually all of their marines resemble them and answer with I am Alpharius when called. The legion is basically subterfuge made manifest.

Oh yeah, they are seven feet tall power armour clad supersoldiers with daemonic assistance and power.

When a more diverse cast is called together, then the ingerent psychoses may lead to the groups disintegration. The Joker is not a team player.
