It's not that it's "so much bullshit" you just don't understand how this fighting system works yet. Before hoping online with any fighter it's always best to go into practice mode or tutorial to pick up the basic and learn some combos. After that you should play against the CPU to understand what some of your characters strengths and flaws are. There are a lot of spammers online but given enough practice you'll learn how to counter that spamming.

There are lots of keep away characters in the game. As a Nightwing player I have to work my ass off to get in, then know the match up very well so I can stay in. Knowledge really is the best asset on this game. That way you know where everyone's weak spots are.

Nice Sig.

I know my biggest obstacle when I first played this game was dedicated dashing. No dash cancels was a hard pill to swallow and made for a bad time at first. The more you play, the more natural it will become. Study up on some of the habits in player matches and watch youtube videos of some of the more troublesome keep away characters like Deathstroke, Superman, Sinestro, etc. You will notice that about 90% of players follow the beaten path, and you'll eventually be able to get in and overcome.

It takes time for sure, I got my ass WHOOPED the first few times I played. Now, I'm pretty good; not great, but good. The worst spammers (for me) are definitely Deathstroke and Sinestro. So, I find Aquaman is pretty good at dealing with them - the underground trident is pretty useful. Ares's teleport can help, but overall I don't find him very useful. I personally have found Hawkgirl useful against noob spammers (people who have no combat skills other than gun/meteor spamming) all you have to do is fly over and bash their skulls in.

This game has a lot of strange design choices. Deathstroke doesn't even bother me anymore. It's Aquaman and Doomsday who keep busting my balls.

Otter of Death on xbox if anyone wants to play me. I'll even play non-zoning characters if specifically requested.

This. I don't want to hear "I suck" when you make up an excuse not to play everytime.

The key to getting better at fighting games is blocking. If you're against zoners, (I don't call it spamming, though it's your call) block and inch your way in and block. Develop an instinct to block low attacks and the occasional overheads by playing more often and gaining experience. You can even predict whether your opponent will hit you with a low or an overhead by recognizing strings of certain characters. Of course mix-ups are mix-ups, they can't be blocked perfectly every time.
But you ain't a dummy, fight back! Be aggressive when need be, and don't be nervous, it's just a game.

I just uploaded this as a request, for someone that wanted to know a way to deal with Supes lasers as Shazam.

I also just recorded a few matches of me playing ranked with commentary. I'll post a link to that as soon as it's finished uploading.

I don't post all that often, but I've been here for a few years. I'd like to battle a few of you if you're up to it. I'm a pretty decent nightwing player, and am always looking for more people to play with. You can find me on the 360 GT is Purfektshun.

What characters specifically are giving you problems and which characters do you like to play?

Some general dirt on Deathstroke though:

-After you block any gunshot move he has you have time to dash in and block again before he can shoot again. Just dash and crouch your way in

-It is generally good to always block low against him and never jump towards him. It is just too easy for Deathstroke players to shoot you out of the air and push you back with that jump up gun shot move they have. Always be watching for the enhanced machine gun move however, since it hits overhead. In that case just slide your thumb from down to back and let your opponent waste their meter.

-If a Deathstroke player hits you with his low gunshots he can check you with a regular gunshot and you cannot do anything in between, Just block it though

-Once you do finally get close 9 out of 10 deathstroke players will do that sword flip move. That move is not safe on block. Just hold back or down and then punish it with a combo. Online if may FEEL like its safe but you just gotta hit em fast after they do it. Try and start with a normal that has a bit of range as well since it will push you back a little bit on block depending on when it hits you.

-After you block a full range gunshot move many characters can hit Deathstroke with their own projectile move before he can block again. Like Aquaman can do the ground trident, Black Adam can do lighting, pretty sure Superman can eye laser, etc.

That was extremely well put together. I will definitely use these tactics. there is other spam characters that give me trouble (superman, sinestro etc)

The character I am attempting to main is Ares. I realize he is B teir, but i love the way he plays and i have learned a few BnB combos with him, but for some reason, every time i go online I FORGET EVERYTHING.

just need to learn how to defend against spam, and other zoning tactics. Also when to attack, because every time i try to attack, i get hit before my normal finishes. would that be because Ares is too slow?

If anyone wants to play, i am so down
