And here I am, already sick and tired of getting 3 stars on every mission... and I'm only 20 levels in so far. *cough*

It honestly should have been multiple costumes instead of one.

What's up with not unlocking characters anymore? That at least would feel worth it and would make you feel accomplished in some way.

Thankfully is not a character, I would hate to get all 3 stars in those stupid missions to unlock a character.

Also no one wants to go through hell and high water to get to use their favorite character. I always hated using people I have no interest in until I unlocked one of my mains.

Yeah this should have been the case. Not everyone uses Flash, and most people can give two shits about Flesh Pit Mileena. That's why I was never motivated to beat the challenge tower and why I'm not even motivated to start STAR Labs.

I thought that Elseworld's Finest Flash skin was unlocked by getting 3 Stars on all Flash Levels.

I thought the final unlock skin was Kryptonite Suit Luthor.

Nah you just have to earn at least one star in each star labs mission.

If you had to complete STAR missions to unlock a character, that character might as well be tournament banned. No tournament operator is going to complete those missions on three different consoles so people can select him/her.

In my previous scene, Cyber-Sub and Quan-Chi were never available for tournaments because the vendor didn't have the time/resources to complete story mode. IMO, the best solution would be to make the reward a boss character who can't be used online (you know, if Injustice had an actual boss that is, lol)
Plus, the STAR missions... man, when my review gets posted, I'm going to blast those missions so hard, lol. I HATED doing that shit.

I still haven't picked up the game yet lol. Are they bad? Tedious? I actually didn't even do the tower in MK.

so far for me getting 1 star at least on all the missions was WAY easier then beating the challenge tower in MK. I haven't gone through to get all 3 stars yet, but I've been trying wherever possible and have 3 stars on quite a few missions already

They're awful. The challenge tower was tedious, but it had a charm to it that made it less of a chore. The STAR missions range from boring to frustrating with more than few beginner's traps, and if you want Shazam's New 52 costume, you HAVE to play through it. That's another thing. I didn't feel like I was being blackmailed into playing the challenge tower.

I could forgive all of that if the missions were fun, but they're not!

I honestly think you have a case of too much bitching. I like the Lab missions, they're tough and fun. You're just complaining they're not what you'd like them to be. It's extra stuff in the game, extra replay value in a fighting game. I'm glad they atleast did something that makes people have a fucking challenge. Not something that takes a few tries with little effort.

I can certainly understand that. I guess it's just old school thinking on my part. Playing the shitty characters and unlocking the awesome ones just made my first play with said awesome character that much more...awesome.

Temp's point about tourney players is also valid, it just still blows my mind that games aren't necessarily about fun anymore.(Once again, may not be a fair observation on my part, but all the tourney players I've seen usually aren't happy until they've won.)

Truth be told, I'm enjoying Star labs so far. I'm at the 40 mission mark, all 3 star'd so far. I will agree that some stars are far more tedious than others, but the more balanced missions are usually so entertaining, you just kinda forgive the rough objectives.

I used to enjoy that when I was younger and had more free time. I used to experience a certain feeling of accomplishment with unlocking my favorite/all the characters on a roster but now it just seems like busy work. I infinitely prefer having access of my guys immediately and then just playing around with everyone else (for endings and such) at my leisure. But yeah that's definitely an era gone by huh.

People have been talking about fun vs. winning and losing a lot recently. Again I don't really play with any other people so I don't quite experience that side of gaming but apparently it's a thing now. I suppose winning has always been a thing but I guess people aren't interested in things if they aren't winning. I can understand not wanting to be a loser though.

Sometimes things in games are called challenging but are actually just intensely frustrating and annoying. Fake difficulty and all of that.

This was a rambly nostalgicy ass post.

I don't play online very often because of overly competitive assholes. It is an interesting problem for sure. Nobody likes losing, but I thought that was an incentive to get better.

To some extent I get the tourney scene. For some of these guys, that is their job. They don't win, they lose sponsors(money). But the average guy, raging on his couch, having no fun, playing only to spread misery to others...that guys an idiot. Sad thing is, you meet that guy more than anyone else.

Just finished bane's missions. Not looking forward to Harley Quinn's missions. The descriptions make them all sound like they're going to be a bitch.

So you've got a guy whose power is running.

He's only got ONE costume in the entire game that looks like cloth instead of bulky, inappropriate metal.

And you make it the hardest thing in the game to unlock.

Well gee, fuck you too, Ed.
(...Well okay, the Nu52 outfit looks kinda cloth-y too I suppose, but it's got those hideous fucking glowing zigzags all over it)

I was going to save this for the audio review, but...

Well, I think you have a case of the-problem-doesn't-affect-me-so-therefore-it's-not-a-problem.

To YOU it's extra content. To me, it's an annoying and LONG obstacle between me and my main costume. It's not fun, it's not challenging in any meaningful way, and most of all, it's not going to be relevant after I'm finished with it.

I'll tell you what it is, though (other than a large time investment). It's bad game design. We have 300 missions. What if:

1) they reduced the number of missions to 100.

2) took half the extra development time to make the challenges more creative/inspired.

3) Use the other half to make more rewards for finishing it.

Wouldn't this be so much better? My only blessing is that I don't have to get all 3 stars on every mission. Razor will have to do 3 times the amount of work I'll do for the Flash alt.
