Warner Bros. is reportedly moving forward on a Batgirl movie and Joss Whedon is in talks to direct.

Variety reports that Joss Whedon is "nearing a deal to write, direct, and produce" the solo Batgirl film, which will serve as a part of the overall DCEU and include additional characters from Gotham.

While Warner Bros. Pictures Group president and CCO Toby Emmerich is overseeing the project with DC Films co-heads Jon Berg and Geoff Johns, no other producers are currently attached to the untitled project.

The Batgirl film joins an impressive list of films slated to be released for the DCEU which includes Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, The Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern Corps, Gotham City Sirens, Man of Steel 2, Suicide Squad 2, Nightwing and more.

Whedon is known for his work on two major MCU movies. He wrote and directed Marvel's The Avengers and its followup, Age of Ultron. He also created Marvel's television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as several other shows, including Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Batgirl will serve as the DC Films' second film starring a female protagonist, following director Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman movie, which stars Gal Gadot and opens in theaters on June 2.

Joss Whedon possible for Batgirl? Mel Gibson possible for Suicide Squad 2? It's almost as if they're beginning to realize they need competent filmmakers to pull this whole thing off.

Or Snyder gets this one too and just gives us "The Killing Joke" instead.

The "Zack Snyder's Superman is shitty" meme. When will this end? Anyone who thinks the first Avengers movie is better than Dawn of Justice doesn't know film making, or story structure. No one talks about Avengers 2, or even The Winter Soldier on any sort of technical level. Yet people still talk about Dawn of Justice and will continue.

I've not bothered with any Marvel movie since the first Avengers, so I couldn't speak to any of their problems.

BvS gets flack from me out of love. It was a fine movie that should've been a great movie and I 100% lay that blame at Snyder's feet. I just don't believe him to be that great a director. Certainly not good enough to be given the proverbial keys to the kingdom like WB has. I hope against hope that he proves me wrong with Justice League.

Apologies to the TC for going overboard with my initial point and any derailing it may have caused.

Lol It's all good. At this point, any concerns with the DCEU past, present and future are all tied together..... at least until they can prove they've turned they're A-game on.
