Justice League the Animated Series - Way better than expected
On a lark (and because all the seasons are on Netflix) I've been chewing through the Justice League cartoon and have been VERY impressed. it's rated Y7 but the humor, themes, and plots covered seem very adult to me. Anyone else a fan of the series?

Yes.
It was bloody awesome.

I'm definitely a fan of the series. It was one of those shows I grew up on, and I wish that MK had that same sort of quality.

I watched the series as a kid, it is hands down one of the best I've ever seen.

Honestly DC animation is one of my favorite things, You should check out most of the newer movies if you liked JL. I'd recommend Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Justice League: Crisis on two Earths and Flash Point.
Young Justice was great as well.

Easily one of the best animated shows ever, including every anime series.
It was awesome how they managed to include subtle adult themes while keeping it entertaining for all ages. From character designs to the voice acting and soundtrack, everything was top notch. A total shame that it ended.

I've actually seen all of those you mentioned at some point or another and you're right DC is on point with their animated movies. I have no idea what kept me from watching the JL cartoon. I suppose I thought it was going to be too goofy/kid oriented (which is fine, but hard to watch as an adult).

I figured these were more for kids though and while I can appreciate that to an extent, it's hard for me to get into.

Personally, I'd skip Teen Titans, but definitely give Young Justice a try.
I find a lot of the DC animated stuff frustrating. It's usually stripped of vital nutrients in favour of very simplified, sometimes slightly off key versions of ideas. Batman had a lot of things going in its favour, and I guess I never watched Superman, or expected a lot from it. So, for me, the frustration kicked in over the course of Justice League.
Young Justice doesn't obliterate the mould, but there's some good stuff there. It's got a great slick look and some nice treatments over time. It feels youth oriented in its self-serious tone, but I think anyone enjoying the characters in the animated forum won't be bothered by that.
It has some of the sophistication that the Justice League and animated movies lack. Is straight forward without being quite as hollow. It probably has more in common with some of the movies, but there's less reduction in the storytelling and more internal drive. Especially once it's been going for a while.
Sportsmaster's a recurring character, too, so you can't go wrong with that. Lots of good characters get a look in. It's by no means the kids running the roost. That's more Teen Titans territory. Young Justice is kinda the DCU from the next wave's perspective. It's a good evolution to go to after Justice League and the movies, I think.

I actually like Teen Titans more than I thought I would. I didn't really watch a whole lot of it when it originally aired, but when I actually sat down and watched the whole series, I liked it. It's the same with Batman: Brave and the Bold. I really underestimated that show, but it actually has a lot of good things going for it. There are especially some key episodes that are more reminiscent of Batman: The Animated Series' episodes.
But again, it's all about tastes. I can definitely understand some people not caring for the crazy, goofy humor of those two shows. Young Justice is pretty good, and I was disappointed it got cancelled. That damn ending really made me want to see a third season, but that's unfortunately how a number of shows end up.

Probably my favourite of the lot.

Ah memories... used to love watching Batman, Superman and the Justice League animated series... love the fact that some of the voice actors from those shows were in Injustice as well

I enjoyed them a lot more when I was younger than after having read so many of the comics. I scrutinize it a lot more now. Don't get me wrong. I still love the series... I own it in its entirety on DVD... but I can't help but be a little bothered about how much they downplay Superman's powers and whatnot.
Still watch the show regularly, though. I wish they'd put out full season of Young Justice. It was fucking criminal that they cancelled that show. I was hoping Raven would make an appearance :(

Superman was constantly the first hero down in almost every episode lol. Seemingly from things that shouldn't effect him at all. I think Justice League might be one of the reasons people think Batman could beat everyone at everything.

Something recurring things keep happening which are amusing
Superman seems to forget about his heat vision and freeze breath ALOT, and he tends to get electrocuted in pretty much every fight
Martian Manhunter seems to forget about his ability to phase through things in an similar way, and this could generally end all conflicts pretty quickly.
GL has a weapon that can create anything he can imagine, but rarely actually makes any constucts, just generic blasts and shields.
I do love the show and I feel it gets better when it becomes JLU.
Also, has anyone watched JL: War? I did, its pretty great, the only downside is some of the voice actors are much inferior to JLU, but the action is a lot better and mature, Being an Aquaman fan I was disappointed they replaced him with Captain Marvel but there doing it because we're getting an Aquaman movie so its all good :)

I do believe they bring that up in the show lol. They eventually handled the Martian Manhunter thing too. GL has a weapon that can create anything he can imagine, but rarely actually makes any constucts, just generic blasts and shields.
I haven't seen ANY of the DC movies yet. I've been putting them off for years now.
