In all the excitement of the upcoming Injustice game, my thoughts traveled back to the MK vs DCU game, and I had some fond memories. I had only borrowed it from a friend, so this week I purchased it for myself. I have to say, my memories of the game are slightly different from the reality; the game isn't as good as I remember, but with the advantage of time I can see and appreciate a lot of what they tried to do, especially with the Story mode, close combat and the free fall combat.

Despite have a lackluster 'reunion' with that game, it actually made me even more excited for Injustice, just knowing how far Nether Realm has come and makes me excited to really see the new changes in action, as well as improvements in the technology. Knowing what Batman and Superman look like in Injustice, it is slightly amusing to see their character design in MK vs DCU.

Have any of you gone back to MK vs DCU while waiting for more info for Injustice? What are your opinions after replaying it (presumably) after so much time has passed?

Because I am probably MKO's biggest supporter of MKvsDC I feel I need to address this.

I picked up the game recently, and although I still found some charm to it, it is a big step backwards from MK9. All it does it make me want to play MK9. The graphics are worse, the roster is kind of weak, the character designs are worse, and the gameplay isn't nearly as fun.

With that said I can definitely see the building blocks of MK9 in it. And I think it's obvious that MK9 feels the most like MKvsDC when comparing it to other MK games. And I still feel this is a good game it's just that its sequel completely over shadows it. I had a lot of fun playing the game and it was a big leap forward for NRS.

I like it, but compared to MK9 it does feel a little obviously bare bones. Even compared to some MK games that came before it does too...one of the things that is bothering me is how the throw is the same for all the characters, it just feels like an afterthought.

But really, that's one of my only complaints....while the graphics and costume design aren't super awesome, they are decent for the time and I really like how they made each combatant feel unique. I think I probably already said this in the OP, but the Story mode is my favorite part. In some ways, it's better than MK9 because I feel like each character gets a little bit more of the spotlight than in MK9.

It's just exciting to look back on this game, see where they went with MK9, and see what new things they've already introduced to Injustice. I am really intrigued as to the Story mode they'll have for the new game.

And honestly, I would be really interested in WB and Disney coming together with Nether Realm studios to make a DC vs Marvel fighting game. It'll never happen, but imagine the possibilities...

This game will always have a soft part in my heart.
It was the first game I had for the PS3.
I do like the game if you're playing it with friends.

I like it.

Its VERY bare bones, Storymode, Arcade, Kombo Khallenges (which simply are not accessible for a player of my skill).

The gameplay is better than any previous MK in my opinion I burned many hours in versus mode with friends.

So thats my thoughts of it, Fun but lacking content.

I disagree. I feel the designs are more faithful updates than most in MK9. One of the improvements, I feel, is Liu Kang. I just don't like how they changed his more realistic looking face/body in MK9.

I can't play it for long. I always had fun whipping it with Wonder Woman though.

Awesome combos with her.

LOL, I look back at MKvsDCU everytime I check my achievement list on X-box Live and remember that horrible glitch that stole my storymode's achievements and gave only a few back in weird ways. They should've fixed that for us. Heck I'll restart from scratch with just that game alone if I could but don't want to risk losing all the other game's data on there. There is one other achievement I never got and I'm thinking that the missing achievements r attached to it like the others attached to other achievements.
