This is about 2 weeks old, but Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has sold over 2,000,000 copies! Do you think that the sales were better than expected? Lower than expected?

It did take a while for this, but hey, not bad. As long as they made some profit and it helps finance the next game, I'm happy.

What the hell I got sig'd? Kickass I knew someone would finally realize the humor of Zoidberg! Anyway who exactly is getting the profit now? The MK team? Warner Brothers?

Probably WB or Midway's creditors.

Congrats to the MK team, continue making the big bucks! There is a market for a MK all stars game and a market for a DCU fighting game. Just maybe not together next time?

I realize that this topic hasn't been posted in three months, but during one of the E3 interviews for MK 2011 Ed Boon stated that MK vs DC Universe has sold 2.5 million copies. I doubt that they sold 500,000 during the last three months. :p

MK vs DCU shipped 1.9 million its first year I thought, meaning it should have crossed 2 million a long time ago.

Baffling, just baffling.

Well, in February, Boon posted to his twitter account that it sold 2,000,000 copies. I might have misread it, but I am pretty sure it said 2 mil. I'll check. EDIT: @OriginalRazer We sold over 2 million MKvsDC so if "saving MK" means we'll sell 3 million MK9's then yes, I would LOVE 2 save MK. :) 9:26 PM Feb 12th via web in reply to OriginalRazer

Yeah I meant four months, not three. :p

The game had shipped 1.8 million by January 2009:

It does seem odd that it would take 13 months to ship another 100,000 - 200,000 copies.

I'd like to know the actual figure. Boon stated 2.5 million at E3. His Tweet from February just said that the game sold two million copies, but it didn't say when. I mean it didn't say "Hey guys we're pleased to announce that DC Universe just broke the two million mark!"

I think maybe Ed just calling someone out like "you need to save Mortal Kombat." And he replied "Why does it need saving when the last one sold two million copies?" Either way it doesn't really matter. It just proves that Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was a bigger hit than most people were willing to admit.

EDIT:
I found the interview! Ed Boon states that MK vs DCU sold over two and a half million units. It's near the very beginning of the interview (within the first minute):
