This is just a thread for anyone to vent about having greatness within their grasp and having it slip away. Failure to become king of the hill, losing to your mortal enemy online, or, in my case, a failed "battle" tower.
There I was, at number 23 on the impossible tower, victory so close I could taste it. Three quarters of a health bar left, and my earth 2 clad Grundy staring down the next opponent... Bane.
Knowing I had to avoid his AA game, I stayed close to the dirt, poking my way past his block into a combo that ends in the defensive buff pain chain. I manage to destroy his first life bar fairly easily. I go into the second round confidently. I get through his defenses roughly the same way, managing to get through with only minor damage, then...the clash.
I wager nothing in anticipation of a fight ending combo. I fly back having lost the wager, and, trying to make up lost ground, quickly dash back in and instead of hitting the d1 poke that had been so successful, I go for a quick 112 setup...and then I hear it. The hiss of the motherfucking venom as Bane ducks under my punches for a MB command grab.
I sit there in horror as I watch nearly all my health go down the drain...except for the last blinking sliver I have left. That last, little hope. I throw caution to the wind, jump in and execute a 60% combo winning the match. Victory was mine...
Then I remembered that was number 23. Number 24, a man by the name of Cyborg Timothy Stein(I assume that's his full name), and his oh so fucktastic dash, hits me in, out, then uppercut/fireballs my ass like I wasn't even standing there.
And there my Grundy lay...defeated.
CYBORG!!!!!
ahem.
Can't wait to read yours.

LOL!
Well, it has not happened to me but I imagine someone about to win The Max just to be caught in Superman's super... and laugh.
