Superman sucks ass, Superboy (as in, the Superman clone, not young Clark) is one badass mother fucker. He took that ridiculous Superman costume design and made it cool. Super + Leather jacket = awesome.

Superboy-Prime is basically meant to be a parody of comic book fans who constantly complain about how nothing is the way THEY want it to be.

They could have use both Superboy Prime and Superman on MK vs DCU. Make them fight.

It is an MK forum, but come on guys... An undercut, bulky jacket, sunglasses, and bad ass 'tude make a great character?! You must be joking!

Superboy-Prime is the great character because... he runs around being invincible and apparently did something that could be perceived as rape?! This must be a hilarious ironic commentary about the predelictions of the MK community. There's no way this is a serious thread!

I don't know that Prime is necessarily worthy of the ire he gets from the comics reading community, but there's got to be a healthy dose of perspective when it comes to the character. He's a none-too-subtle parody of whinging nostalgia nuts and other brands of online bonehead. He's not the epitomy of any kind of character but those that are post-modern jokes.


Get away from fashion sense (or lack thereof), and any debate about which is the superior character is pretty redundant. They're all Superman; be they the genetically spliced offspring of Superman and Lex Luthor, or a cranky underage Kal-El from a parallel universe. They all represent a facet of that character that is as large and versatile and classic as Batman.

Not dividing his time between being a mopey power fantasy for Gen Y pubescents and/or looking after his sickly old aunt is not the mark of a bad character. Nor is trying to good for the sake of good.
Those who see Superman as no more than the cape and powers drawn on the page probably aren't spending any valuable time with the character. A character as capable of crossing demographics, genres, and characterizations as Batman is, albeit with his own inherent advantages. Interpretations that include each Superboy that springs off of a particular idea or juxtaposition of the original Superman/Superboy.
