Why is the DC Animated stuff so good?

Seriously I wouldn't have checked out anything beyond some of the animated movies but my foray into Justice League lead me to Young Justice (which I thought was going to be absolute garbage) and now I just finished up Green Lantern: The Animated series. Granted a large part of me watching these series has been ease of access through Netflix streaming but..goddam...this is good stuff!

Marvel movies might rule the box office but DC has it figured out with their animated series.

Yea I havent watched a DC animated movie or show that I havent enjoyed (kind of been avoiding Teen Titans GO!)

I'd recommend you watch Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Justice Leage: War and The Flashpoint Paradox.

I'm a tough sell on these things, but I had a handful dropped in my lap recently and came away with good things to say about Superman vs The Elite.

I don't know that it represents or scratches the itch of a typical DC animated movie, but it also tells a very succinct, pointed, relevant story for not being those usual things. Well worth a look, particularly if you have strong feelings about Superman -- negative, or positive.

FYI: You can watch & discuss two new Batman animated shorts in this thread. Bruce Timm and Darwyn Cooke returning to the character for two very different takes [Golden Age/Batman Beyond].

Because I dare say its because:

a) Most of it is made to be One Shot for the fun of it.
b) its probably out of the eyes of the suits who are screwing up the movie franchises.
c) its probably being run a lot more like the Marvel Films.
