Shinnok wears him down with the lava blast from a distance. Once Shao Kahn is close enough for a shoulder charge I think it's over. Kahn hits too hard and his hammer would deal with Shinnok's tough exterior. Plus I think Kahn would be a more dirty fighter. I'd assume a slight bit of Shinnok's eloquent godliness would remain in his corrupted form.
