Welcome Nightmare and let me tell you that Scorpion ranks pretty high up on the best MK characters list but isn't quite there.

Smoke may be my favorite but he's far from the best. Nay, if you want the BEST MK kharacter, look no further than the Emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn. Sure, his name means "little leader," but how many other people have starred as their fighting series' last boss for two games in a row (Four if you want to count the remakes of MK3)? Of course, starring two games wasn't enough for Kahn, he went and made himself the hardest last boss the world has ever known! Gameplay aside, Kahn still reigns above everyone else because he's so unbelievably powerful. He may lack style but have you seen him in the Armaggedon opening? He's an absolute monster! Think the MKA opening isn't cannon, then Kahn still managed to nearly kill Kung Lao and almost beat Liu Kang, the series' main characters mind you, in a two-on-one fight in which he was the one!

Sub-Zero may seemingly be the most popular, Scorpion may have the most famous move, Raiden may be a god, Liu Kang may even be the champion but when all's said and done, EVERYONE is afraid of Shao Kahn to some degree or another. His power and his "straight-up annihilate you" style are the very essence of Mortal Kombat. Shao Kahn isn't just the best Mortal Kombat kharacter, he IS Mortal Kombat!

What a silly question. "Wicth" person is the best sounds awfully subjective and nonspecific to me.

My favorite character is (obviously) Sub-Zero, but can I honestly say he's the best? If so, at what? Gameplay? Story? Looks? Moves? Fatalities?

*Sigh* way too many MK character favorites thread. I highly suggest you use the search feature as this has been brought up many times and I'm positive that there is a repeat thread that is still good.
