Hello guys, I’ve always wanted to write a fanfic about Sindel’s past, before Jerrod died. And how the whole Shao Kahn taking over Edenia worked. So, I thought I’d put my own take in it. I thought it looked kind of long so I have another part coming soon. Leave comments!

*********************************************************************************
The realm of Edenia was no more. It’s beautiful courtyards and flowing public life was up in flames. Drawn in by war, and now in the attention of Outworld Emperor, Shao Kahn. If only he could defeat the true rulers of Edenia...
On the outskirts of the Royal Edenian Palace, a battle was in heat. The restless army of Shao Kahn filled with Tarkatans and Shokans were battling the torn and tired Edenian army. Every beautiful soul, risking his or her life for the one true place to call home. Where are the Rulers of this great realm? Shouldn’t they be protecting Edenia from the Emperor’s shadowy grasps? Well, I tell you, the Edenian people could not have asked for more significant rulers.

In the middle of the battle, in between armor and swords, were the King and Queen.
Sindel emerged on top of a small dirt mound. Brandishing her Kwan Do, and sporting Silver armor with deep violet jumpsuit under it. Her long white hair stirred by the wind. King Jerrod jumped out of the crowd and landed by his wife.
Jerrod, a masculine man with long brown hair, a short beard, and soft blue eyes. His golden plating gleamed in the sunlight. He took out two double-edged swords and dived back into the battle.
Sindel heard screaming, a common occurrence in a battle of course. But she couldn’t stand the way death crept on her skin. She jumped down, acrobatically using her Kwan Do to gain her more distance. She landed hard on her boots, crouched down, and swung. Her already bloody blade became more gruesome. Tarkatan warriors advanced. Using their own weapons, the merged forward, trying to get their blades in the presence of her flesh. She had more training than that. To be defeated by a mere warrior would be an atrocity. But she should never undermine the spirit of a true soldier.
“Jerrod!” She yelled out, as she gave a severe kick right into the jaw of a Tarkatan. She gradually turned her Kwan Do and slid it in it’s holster on her back. It was a large weapon to carry, but she could handle. He slid on her chest, grabbed the ankles of a warrior, and flew her body upwards. Her feet met the face of her foe and he fell down. Either unconscious or dead.
Jerrod came out of the crowd once more and ran towards Sindel. His armor held the stench of Tarkatan blood. It wasn’t like she could complain. “Jerrod! We cannot hold off this army for long. In a matter of time the-”
She was caught off by the terrorized scream of many Edenian soldiers. Dozens had started to run the other way. Only to brace themselves of course. Edenians were not cowards.
“Shokans.” She gasped. The four armed monsters came in. Smashing the ground with their two toed feet and flinging their enemies away like mere twigs. These beings hardly needed armor. Although still sheathed with some, their skin was too tough to be harmed by arrows, pierced by weak attacks, or subdue to small “magic” tricks.
“Come on,” He said to Sindel, mostly. “We cannot let them pass.”
She nodded gravely. They charged full ahead. Sindel grabbed the lower right arm of the nearest Shokan. She flung herself upwards and wrapped her legs around his neck. His large palms raised to pick her off. He was too late. A deafening crack silenced him when she snapped his neck. She pounced before he fell.
Jerrod, only a few feet away was battling double his share. He dodged eight arms at once. He pulled out his sword drove it deep into one of the arms. The blade only made it half way through the muscle, but the Shokan still roared in pain. Sindel followed to help. She took out her own weapon and landed right in front of the second Shokan. She held her Kwan Do tightly with a two-handed grip. The Shokan merely laughed, and charged. Did he think it would be a breeze for him to defeat the small being that was Queen Sindel?
Not in her life. She rolled in between his legs, popped up behind him and sliced at his spine vertically. He shook in pain and his lungs bellowed. He turned and fell upon her. She quickly jumped away but left her Kwan Do set upright. A sickening sound of sharp metal entering meat was all she needed to know he was dead. She took the Kwan Do out of the Shokans chest and looked upon the enemy army.
“Jerrod!” She screamed. A very loud scream at that. When he looked over she was pointing to a certain Shokan. This was no regular beast. It was Goro. The commander of the Shokans and the great army of Outworld. He was taller than most and used no weapon. Just his own strength.
Jerrod nodded. They both bounded on towards Goro at the same moment. Goro finally noticed them as who they were once they reached him. Sindel looked up and got her Kwan Do ready. He challenged them with a roar.
“Really?” Jerrod asked Goro. “Is that the kind of match you want?” He gave Sindel a glance.
She leaned forward and opened her mouth. A terrible beyond imagining scream came out of her. The loud banshee scream stunned Goro. His hands were clenched up by his eyes, just stretching to cover his ears.
Jerrod attacked. He used a series of combinations with his swords that left Goro’s chest dripping with his own blood. Goro finally got hold of his own senses. He pounded the ground, making Sindel stumble. Jerrod whipped by and helped her up. He jumped towards Goro and raised his sword. Goro caught him before anything else could happen. His fingers wrapped around Jerrod while another hand grabbed Jerrod’s arm. Jerrod moaned in pain and dropped his sword.
Sindel launched herself up in the air and s star of energy burst out of her mouth. The blue energy smashed into Goro’s face. He released Jerrod and stumbled backwards. Sindel landed by Jerrod and kneeled by him.
She felt his arm. “Are you injured?” She asked him. He shook his head but clenched his teeth when he stood. She motioned him to stay down and she grabbed his sword and charged at Goro. What she didn’t expect was for Goro’s fists to burst into flames. He swung all four arms and they smashed into Sindel’s body. The wind was completely knocked out of her. She could feel herself falling and hitting the ground. It felt distant... the edges of her vision grew hazy.

Sindel awoke in the presence of her own bed. She sat up and clutched at her chest. She heaved out the air. Nothing felt wrong. She swung her legs out and walked towards her mirror. She gazed at her own image. She looked as she always had. An attractive middle aged woman. Shook her head to erase any bad images of gore she still had from battle. She dressed and headed out into the other room.
She smiled when she gazed upon the people in that room. Her family. Jerrod was there acting and looking not as a King or General. A father and husband. And her daughter, Kitana. The beautiful heir of the throne. She would look about two years old in normal human years. She had dark hair like her father, and had her eyes.
She strode out peacefully. The others in the room were Commander Derek and his own daughter: Jade. Jade, about the same age as Kitana was sitting down, playing with Kitana. She smiled at Derek and walked to Jerrod. She led him out of the room and onto the balcony.
She fell into his arms and wrapped hers around his neck. Such a precious time to have was hard to come by lately. He kissed Sindel’s lips before releasing her.
“Are you feeling alright?” He asked, running his fingers over her shoulders.
“I’m fine now.” She paused, and actually took notice at the view from the balcony. Smoke stacks raised, fired burned, corpses lay, and somewhere another small battle was happening. “When will it end, Jerrod? How come we are the victims?” she turned and looked him in the eyes. “Why all this, when all I want to do is be with you and Kitana. I want to prevent her from growing up in such treachery.”
“Sindel, you are doing more than you can. More than you should. You’re a queen and a mother, but your out there trying to defeat Kahn himself. I’m sorry to say, but I’m not sure what else we can do. We need to fight hard, and hope the elder gods will help us somehow.”
It wasn’t much to say. But Jerrod’s words always seemed to cleanse her. And she always felt better in his arms. She walked away from the balcony and patted Derek on the shoulder.
“They have began to be such good friends since the invasions started.” Derek said, looking down at Jade and Kitana. “They’re so bound to each other.” Sindel smiled and nodded. She walked over and sat down in an elegant chair. She picked up Kitana and held her close.

I like it! I always reading about Sindel and I like how you've portrayed her. She's not only a queen but she's a fierce warrior and it's easy to forget that given her title and you've done her justice. I think you should continue. I think it's very interesting. And the battle was beautifuly vicious. Sindel certainly is no pacifist. grin
