All you did was make random garbage from Google Images transparent on a background and used the smudge tool and prayed that it would look good. It doesn't. In fact, it's terrible. Your copy-paste jobs with MK props were better. Why? Because you actually edited them (for example your first fake's Warrior Shrine was practically flawless).

The grass leaves are okay, but obvious pre-rendered tubes from paint shop pro. I would know, I used them when creating an Easter e-Card. Ha!

You did a really bad job with the glowing green effect too. I can still see the white lines on Goro. THIS is where you use a new layer to erase that white trash (lol) so the glow remains only on the outer part of Goro's sprite. Now he just looks like the Hulk who took a bath in nuclear waste.

This fake is overall a good concept but boring. It's really hard to do a Shang Tsung soul steal fatality and keep it original because it's been done over and over and over and over and over again. I would know...

So don't be as stupid as I was (and apparently still am). I know there aren't many poses for MK1 Shang Tsung... so I guess you were limited. I told you that MK1 fakes would not be easy. At least you listened to me once, but I see not again. I will PM you with more suggestions about making this fake a bit more... "original" and give you ideas on how to use what MK gives you to make a better background than this. I know you can do better. You are not advanced enough to make backgrounds from scratch. Not even I am.

Alright, alright; I'll stop procrastinating and get to reviewing this thing. Seeing as how this is your first attempt at producing a custom background, I'll try to be a lot less critical and, in turn, a bit more advisable.

I'm impressed by your boldness to take on a painstaking task such as this, but the process appears to have been rushed. That said, I'll offer a few suggestions that should aid in your improvement in the long run. First of all, it would've been wise to provide some shading to some of the blades of grass to give the impression of depth.

Secondly, the trees in the background were clearly copied and pasted from either a computer-generated scene or a photograph. That is something that I and many others frown upon, as it is blatant plagiarism of someone else's work with no credit given to the designer of the exploited reference image. I speak from experience when I say that producing your own background props is an exasperating process. In the end, however, you'll feel a lot more fulfilled (and people will appreciate the effort a lot more) once you are capable of designing your own props.

Lastly, the sky should never engulf the background to the degree that this one does. Ultimately, it diverts attention away from the rest of the image and, in this case, to such a degree that it proves difficult to focus on the backdrop as a whole.

Perfecting these things takes time (trust me, I know), but you seem to be able to take advice and run with it so I figure that all you really require is a nudge in the right direction. I have faith in your ability and your open-mindedness, qualities that all of my own proteges have possessed. I'm hoping that this critique was beneficial to you by some means, because I can assure you that I appreciate your interest in my creative wisdom.
