Good stuff, the beam looks really nice. A few things that could make it better:

-make the purple floor lighting more round, it looks too angular (erase its edges)

-Use a more defined blood texture, so that it doesnt look as misty/blurry

Reminds me of Piccolo's special beam cannon attack from DBZ. grin

Cool stuff, I think the beam is a little too blurry though, and could use some contrast. The blood should be all a blur either.
