After seeing some lackluster submissions these days with the fan fictions, it's given me some energy to write. I've decided to show off some excerpts from the several bios/konquest things I have going on all in one post. I work on all of them, but with so many ideas, and these things get really long. tongue
One of these is even finished, just got to put the final touches so that it makes sense, as I had to change the logic behind it that I had set for a while. After all, who wants a 2-dimensional character to read about?
Konquest: For Earthrealm

Kabal, the fastest human alive, ran towards freedom, carrying Smoke and Stryker on his back. Because Smoke could alter his mass to become as light as air, Kabal was able to carry both heroes with little difficulty, despite the fatigue he had from all the fighting. He braced himself for Smoke to develop enough energy to teleport them through the portal, but their destinies would now diverge, as a well-placed enemy blast launched the three kombatants into the air, separating them. At the intense speed they travelled, all three were sent in different directions, with only Kabal flying painfully through the portal to Earthrealm, the first to make it through.

Raiden, flying above the heads of the Extermination Squad, dodged blades and blasts and rushed to get Liu to the safety of the other side. The portal would only allow Earth's inhabitants to pass through so there was no concern about the Extermination Squads pursuing them to the other side. None of their enemies were close enough to block it thanks to Jax's intervention, so Raiden saw no threat from the Squads. He felt his power increase as he neared the portal, and within moments, was on the other side, catching a brief glimpse of Kabal encircling the portal in hopes of seeing his two comrades. Raiden could sense the warrior's pain, and as a sign of support, laid Liu Kang onto the ground and threw lightning at various Tarkata, using every ounce of his slow-building power to keep a clear path to the portal. He tried to walk and teleport through but the portal's energy blocked him from entering Outworld again. He was unable to pass through to Outworld now that he was on the other side, so this was all Raiden could do. Not long after this, Jax made it through and laid Nightwolf next to Liu Kang and bandaged their wounds. Kabal recognized Jax and regretfully chose to flee the area; it would do neither him, nor Smoke and Stryker any good if Kabal was arrested for his association with the Black Dragon clan.

Kurtis Stryker awoke on the ground, repeatedly stepped on by Tarkata as they made their way to kill the fleeing humans. Stryker grabbed his machine gun and fired wildly into the air, surprising several Tarkata and killing even more. He got to his feet quickly and scanned the crowd for the cyborg's trademark smoke bellowing from his body, but he sadly saw none. He turned his attention to surviving and escaping, but judged that the blast sent him too far away from the rapidly shrinking portal. He knew he had no chance to make it in time, but made the rational decision to search for any indication that either Smoke or Kabal were alive and still fighting somewhere in Outworld. When he saw two humans kicking and spinning into a crowd of Centaurians, Stryker joined the fray and lobbed a grenade into their direction. From the confusion following the small explosion, Stryker jumped on the back of a four-legged behemoth and strapped explosives to its head. As the Centaurian screamed, Stryker jumped away and signaled at the young kombatants to run away. Kai and Jarek shielded their eyes as the Centaurian disintegrated and more grenades around them went off and killed surrounding Tarkata and injured the Centaurians. Jarek fell to his back and created a shock wave that forced the Centaurians off balance, giving Kai a chance to summon fireballs from the ground. The fireballs forced the Centaurians to rear up onto their hind legs, giving Stryker ample opportunity to spray the monsters with bullets at their weak undersides. As Kai helped Jarek off the ground, Jarek, noticing Stryker was still firing, called to him, "We're gettin' outta here, cop, come on with us."

"Two of my buddies are still fighting out here, go on without me." Stryker had already made his decision, so he continued his search and left them. Jarek grabbed and held Kai in his arms, and using his mentor Kano's skills, cannonballed his way towards the portal and crossed through, noticed only by Raiden. Jarek quickly saw Jax treat Liu and Nightwolf, and decided it was time to leave. "Hey, look man, I gotta run," he told Kai. "Good luck with the whole 'warrior-monk' deal, man. If you ever need a safe spot to hide out or whatever, come to the Black Dragon and mention that Jarek sent ya."

"Thank you, Jarek," replied Kai, "I will not forget you and hopefully the next time we meet won't be with horsemen chasing us." They saluted each other and Jarek ran off before Jax could turn around and recognize him. Kai then came to Jax and asked if there was anything he could do to help.
Konquest: Dominance

I am the Scrivener, one of the oldest beings in all of creation, and the inspiration for many lives in this universe. As long as I have been alive, I have been noting everything that has happened, and because you have sought the truth, I will tell you all that I know. You are very fortunate, for I have followed these individuals for centuries, and know them even better than they know themselves, so it will serve you well to pay attention. This is a story that revolves around the lives of two of the most infamous beings ever created, and spans enough millennia to make it difficult to keep track of the entire story; nevertheless, I am able to fully recount what happened to them, and how they have grown to become the fine specimens they are.

A long time ago when the majority of the worlds were still new, the Gods, still young and learning to master their untold power, were slowly testing their limits. They were created specifically to guide and rule the Universe into a new era, one better suited to a younger, stronger generation. The Elder Gods were chosen based on spectacular contests of power to create – or destroy – the most impressive objects using the least amount of power and effort, but causing the greatest affect, without harming or creating any living creatures in the process. From these events, several objects in the cosmos were invented; chilling asteroids, lifeless moons, giant gaseous planets, blazing comets, brilliant stars, beautiful nebulas, chaotic black holes, and the most devastating supernovas imaginable that can still be seen in the night sky of any realm.

Once the division between Gods and Elder Gods was made, challenges of speed, strength, and intelligence determined which Gods would become Protectors of specific realms, the guardians of these worlds that would defend them from any disasters. These ranged from natural phenomena, such as massive world-destroying meteors, or supernatural phenomena, including preventing divine beings from interfering with the destiny of a world they had no reason to influence, including their natural opposites, Demons. Those who were awarded this honour, were given more power than standard Gods, and considered the second highest rank in the Pantheon, and became known as Protectors. Together, the three ranks of Elder Gods, Protectors, and Gods watched the realms grow and change, and governed them with the best of their wisdom. One Elder God in particular watched as Earthrealm formed – this was Shinnok.

Shinnok wanted Earthrealm all to himself, and he gave into greed and illusions of false power he could have with Earthrealm under his control. The realm’s energy was still fresh, as it was the last realm ever created by their predecessors, and could be harvested to allow Shinnok to have unmatched ability compared to anything in existence. Shinnok wanted the realm’s energy, but this was forbidden to him because that would not only cause an unnatural balance, but would also affect the fate of billions of potential lives. He did not care about the consequences and confronted the Protector of Earthrealm directly, challenging Raiden’s abilities. The concept of different possible futures still existed, so it was decided that without the intervention of the other Gods, to have a contest of strength and strategy to determine Earthrealm’s future.

Although most know how the Gods fought for Earthrealm and the ensuing aftermath, very few know of the involvement of mortals. Before the Elder Gods banned themselves and other Gods from interfering in the daily lives of regular beings, they felt that since this battle would determine how the realms would be watched and governed, that mortals should have a say in what happens, with full knowledge of the consequences of both victories, and the choice to fight.
Biography: Frost

Revealing his sentimental side only made it easier for me to want to secure my place as his superior. Sub-Zero was a terrific leader, but he relied too much on his emotions. An emotional leader is a weak leader, and a weak leader can only command a feeble following. I wanted to show him what a true Ice Queen could do with a relic like his and demonstrate how he should lead the Lin Kuei! I froze him and ripped the medallion from his chest, letting its power flow through me... It made me feel spectacular, amazing, almost indestructible! But then I began to feel a horrible chill, a darkness sweep over me... I couldn't control what was happening anymore. Sub-Zero looked at me in terror as I froze before him, unable to manipulate the new level of power I achieved.

I eventually awoke, my body aching with pain as Grandmaster Sub-Zero held me in his arms and brought me back to the Lin Kuei base. We were no longer alone; a beautiful, tattooed woman was with us, and handled the cold extremely well despite her revealing clothes. As I groaned and attempted to move, Sub-Zero looked down at me and grunted, eyes filled with hate, and returned his attention to the woman. There was no need for words here, as there was nothing he could say to make me feel worse... He saved me... Had I succeeded in stealing his medallion I’d have most likely banished him from the Lin Kuei for his age and weak mind, but instead of leaving me in Outworld trapped in an icy cocoon, he took the time to free me, and even brought me back to Earth... Despite how emotional he was, my Sifu was a true gentle, honourable man, and I was certain that I lost every ounce of his respect. I failed at becoming the new Grandmaster, and would never have the opportunity to get close to him ever again.

Surprisingly, over the weeks that followed, I recovered with Sub-Zero by my side. I waited for him to prove me wrong about his kindness, and mercilessly kill me in the middle of the night, but he helped me until I was able to walk unaided... My desire to take control of the Lin Kuei waned as I was in no condition to betray someone who saved me from the brink of death. How could I bring myself to do that again, especially when ultimately his kindness was what kept me alive? No matter how much I despised his inability to kill his enemies or take full advantage of his powers, I finally saw that his goodness was a strength, an admirable one that Raiden and the other heroes saw. Even if I was capable of fighting at the time, it would have been useless, since he was in a very different league of power.

Once he was certain that I no longer required his assistance, he left me alone... No more private training sessions, no more advice to improve my methods... Not even as much as a hello if we happened to cross paths in the hallways or caught sight of one-another in the communal training sessions. I was branded a pariah by the other members and had no communication with anyone. My exploits in Outworld had spread to my peers, and it was understandable that they would react negatively; I had almost killed their leader, and I had no choice but to accept the shame and stigma that came with it. I realized that Sub-Zero was showing me kindness by letting me live and remain with the Lin Kuei, but still showing strength and leadership by doing exactly what he did to Sektor... He was leaving me with my guilt to hopefully learn the error of my ways. I had to earn his forgiveness before he would address me as an equal.
Konquest: Closure

Sindel levitated towards the ninja, stating, “In the name of Edenia, I place you under arrest for your involvement in the attempted takeover of Edenia and the slaughter of my royal personnel and my people. Guards, seize him!” As her guards walked over to Hanzo, unflinching in his stance, Fujin blocked their way towards him. “Wind God,” growled Sindel, “Scorpion is no innocent man; he is a demon and must pay for his crimes.”
“Scorpion is gone; this is Hanzo Hasashi, the man behind the alias Scorpion, the one who was not a murderer, the one who is reformed, focused and under my servitude for his crimes. Your grudge does no longer applies to him.”
“Hanzo, Scorpion, only a fool would act as if they are two separate entities. He made bad decisions in both his life and his afterlife and has continued to fight to satisfy his own selfish needs, never for the benefit of the greater good. I will not let him sully what we stand for just so that he can fulfill his never-ending quest for revenge!”
Sindel took a deep breath and screamed as loud as she could, directing and focusing her voice only at Hanzo. He clutched his head in pain, feeling as though his head was about to explode, but Fujin reacted quickly enough to prevent any permanent damage to Hanzo by effectively waving his hand and muting Sindel with a mere thought. As Sindel clutched her throat and mouth, Fujin stared her down.
Konquest: Where are the Black Dragons?

As the searing hot beams cut through his body, Kano's mind flooded with memories... His adoptive parents holding him as a child in Tokyo, his friends in a local high school in Melbourne, the first time he met No Face and Tasia, who led him to join the Red Dragon, the last time he challeneged Mavado and led the rebellion to form the Black Dragon, his first time using his new metallic eye, his first encounter with Sonya and Daniel Blade and the rivalry that sparked between the three of them... Those would be his last notions of happiness.
More sneak-peaks to come (most of them are on my iPod Touch so that I can type while traveling). Like I said, one of these is finished, so after a quick review, it'll be up, with the full title.

I have to say that they are excellent pieces of literature, although most of them are unfinished. My favorite one out of the pack had to be For EarthRealm. It was just incredible to me.
