Just a couple notes:

This started out as an attempt to do a female sprite edit. I haven't done many, so I figured I'd try it out. In addition, I haven't made a full fake in about five years (if this even counts).

Also, I wanted to create sprites that would feature more casual attire than the sometimes over complicated costumes mainly featured in Mortal Kombat while staying at MK3's stock resolution (usually, I upscale to include more detail). But somewhere in the editing process my interest in this got a bit more personal than I had initially planned.

While the fatality here is generic, it has deeper meaning within the proper frame of context. By the way, these characters aren't based in Mortal Kombat, that should be obvious.

Veno probably isn't going to like the fact that I didn't polish this, but I've grown tired of working on these sprites and premise.

It's not the best thing that I've been working on, but I felt the need to come out with something to gauge some things and get feedback on a larger scale for other, more intensive projects I'm also working on. Okay, I'm done typing. Here you go:

I won't lie, the sprites look fantastic and realistic, but they don't match the style of MK. Maybe it's because they're not MK characters. Any who, they are so good that they look like they belong in a different video game. That's fine; it's your own style.

The heart looks awesome and so does the blood, but I'd imagine some blood on the chick's hand and maybe a little on the forearm considering she had to slam it into the dude's chest. The right hand (her left) looks a little weird.

Very nice fake.

OMGZ NO SHADOWS??!

Edit: veno / saizero HAHAHA. Great shit.
These are great starts, but I find some of the shading looks a bit cartoony/flat compared to the MK style. The jeans look great, and the male victim is a bit better/less odd looking than the chick.

Her shirt looks completely fake, and her skin/hair could use some shading work. Looks like the light is coming straight from the 4th wall/our perspective.

They look like a midpoint between MK with SFII realistic drawing graphics drawn on them. Kinda like the non MK/SF fighters from the 90's. When people make their own sprites, they generally have this cartoony texture problem, though with KILLKANO, he made backgrounds to match the style.

It kinda looks like a scene from a possible Buffy the Vampire Slayer game for the SNES....
Like they said, it looks very nice and like it belongs to a game... just not MK, which is totally fine.

Also... why do i get the feeling you or someone you know is the dude and she is a cold hearted she-bitch?

Most likely because what your feeling is telling you would be moderately accurate.

Also, I'm enjoying the criticism. I will be keeping the above and hopefully forthcoming points made in mind for future projects.

Well, if it counts, the bases I used for the sprites were Sonya and Kano (well, a bastardized version of an old w.i.p. I had for a Kano sprite. For those curious, here are the base sprites I started with:

From left to right: Base for the chick, final base for the dude, and the Kano sprite I used somewhat for the base [that I referenced earlier].

Also, I do have some editing progress stages for the chick, if anyone is interested in seeing those.

I'd say save those for the sprite editing tutorial thread saizero and I plan to create in the near future.
