Very impressive! You can tell that you have a good feel for proportion because of what you did with this pic. Even though Goro is oversized and bulky (which is definitely cool) you managed to keep him somewhat proportioned, and in so doing, allowed your unique style to shine through.

I only have two crits. First off, Goro's head doesn't "match" with his body. It's almost like you tried to blend two different styles into one pic. Secondly, his "lower" arms have different lengths. If you straightened his lower-left arm, it would be almost a full hand longer than his right.

Like I said, minor crits because this piece rocks! Good job!

with the lower arms, i tried making it look as though he was swinging his arms, but it got a little messed up when i redrew his legs it wasn't as obvious that the arm on the lower left is swung back and is behind his leg a little. the arm on the right is swung forward and is hence bigger than the other. that also accounts for the differences in the shadows on the tops of the arms, cast by the arms above them. but yeah, i do see what you're saying about the one looking a little longer, 3d proportions are tricky. what i should have done then would be to have made the hand on the arm on the lower right bigger because it's closer to the foreground of the picture.

ok, so far, i've submitted 3 pics of goro, and each one has had a face that simply was not considered to be goro's. now faces are not my strong point but i do think im getting closer to goro with each successive pic. what can i do to make these faces look more like goro? and what are some good techniques for drawing faces?

Very nice, this is the best of your 3 goro pics. Excellent detail on the veins, you did a good job at choosing where to place them. I think the lower arms are perfect, and the legs are ok as well. Nice idea to give him that 'walking forward' look, instead of just giving him a stand-still pose, you did an excellent job with it. I like the details on the cloth around his waist as well, it has an almost perfect shading job. Another nice detail I like is the bands around his wrist, the look especially nice on his upper arms.

Ok, well about the head, it really was the only true problem with this one. Its better than the other drawings' heads though, I love the expression on his face. I see others say it doesn't 'match' the body. I wouldn't use that term myself, but I believe what they mean it looks too 'smooth', and doesn't go with the rest of the body. Either that, or they can't get around the width of the shoulders. Anyway, I would just say it is a bit smoother than the rest of the body, but its not by much really. Nothing I would worry about, its defiantly the better head of Goro you've drawn yet. Anyhow, good work, this one is almost perfect.

ok, so his cheek bones are a bit too big, the lines for them turn inward too late. the top of his head is not quite rounded enough. his ears are a bit too big, as well as his nose, a bit. and the line above his lip, to make the snarl, should be moved outwards a bit then. and his lower jaw should be a bit more boxy, bringing the corners down more. and finally, he looks a little cross-eyed. does that sound right to you?....... a bit?

you wanna know something kinda funny i learned while drawing these? hands are much easier to draw when they only have 2 fingers and a thumb.

You are correct. Two fingers and a thumb are "Much" easier that four and a thumb!

actually, im a big fan of scorpion too. im just a little intimidated by the amount of detail i would have to put into a scorpion drawing so im holding it off until i get a little better at it. right now, though, i just came up with a freakin awesome idea for a oni demon concept that i wanna get onto as soon as i get my scetch book back, i accidently left it in orlando today, so im gonna have to just jot down the basic ideas so i dont forget it. just wait though, it'll be freakin awesome if it turns out like i see it in my head. wow

The shading and foreshortening are excellent. The walk pose just right. The stature you gave him looks like a dinosaur up on his toes. wink

I don't have a problem with the face but to be pure it needs to be shorter. As shown earlier Goro has got a wider shorter jaw line. Cheek bones should be smaller as well. Like I said though yours is fine by me.

It's just funny seeing that tiny head buried in all that muscle.

This is a great piece. I really love how his veins are so detailed and pronounced. It looks really cool, even though normally, all of those viens would gross me out wink. Very nice piece. I can find very little wrong with it that you haven't already explained.
