Is there a way to remove sprite layers in MAME like in ZSNES?

In ZSNES it's easy to get graphics since you can remove layers of sprites and backgrounds. Can you do the same in MAME (the arcade version)?

Nope. Ya gotta take the sprites away by removing the background by hand (erasing the background around the sprites)

what helps is having a copy of the background without sprites (2 reptiles invisible). Then use the difference option in photoshop to get the sprites. Ohh did I reveal something?
