ok, does anybody here get pop-sci magazine? there is this really cool little article in there about how a dr. Gray melted tin using a microwave and then poured it into a cast iron cornbread fish mold to make little tin fish. well, i've got this friend who's dad makes bronze sculptures using a series of steps that takes you from a clay original to a concrete mold and finally a bronze sculpture. only making the stuff out of bronze is really freakin expensive and requires enough heat to incinerate a small whale. well, i got this idea to try it using the microwave melted tin (despite the disclaimer and the warnings all over the article) to make a figurine or something (im smart, i can handle this shit). think i should give it a shot?

Dude, dont do it. Your asking for trouble if your going to nuke a type of metal. Your Microwave might explode since metal isnt supposed to be in a microwave or you might severely burn yourself. be cautious.

i know how to take precautions, and i figured i would go get a cheap microwave at a thrift shop or something. that way, i wouldnt have to worry about fucking up my microwave. plus i would get a lab apron (the heavy duty fire resistant kind) and some heavy duty gloves. i figure if i did it in my spare time, it would take maybe a month to get the whole thing done.

if you really dont think i should use a microwave, then i might be able to use a conventional oven. i just need to heat it to 220 degrees celcius. unfortunately, i have no idea what temp that is in farenheit. does anybody remember that conversion formula?
