MrSchpfmut is awesome at coloring. Nice drawing.

Awesome drawing. Nice detail, proportions, etc.
Just a couple problems:
-Why did you use MKD Baraka, but UMK2 Jade?
-The line forming the top of Jade's left boot almost connects with a line on Baraka's pants below. Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but it's a little distracting IMO.
Other than that, great job, keep up the good work.

Where can I get this UMK2 you speak of

Damn sattch, that's pretty well done!
Are you working with pen & inks, or with a pc?
Your lines came out very clean. it's a lil more evident in Jade, but having a somewhat heavier stroke outlining the characters helps them stand out from eachother and the background.
Nice work on the head sholder and arm areas. Put that attention to detail in the rest of your anatomy work!

As carnage pointed out... Not that bad, maybe you just hadn't noticed.
If you'd like I can do a quick flatting job. I really wouldnt have the time or talent to do a full render tho... Let me know

Sorry, that was a typo. I meant UMK3, obviously.

Hmmmm, this one is very good.
The only thing I didn't like was the background, is it just flames falling down or is it something else?
Anyways, the texture and other drawing techniques (sp?) are excellent. I think that you could've shown some blood and gore you know? This is Mortal Kombat afterall :)
Overall: 5/5

Thanks for the comments people!
BOMBSnFISTS: thanks!
XcarnageX: I like the UMK3 female ninja costumes the best on those ladies. They just look great. Same with MKD Baraka. I'm not really adhering to any specifical canon or timeline in most of my drawings, so I go with what I like. As for that damn boot line.... good eye. I missed it and must correct that.
MrSchpfmut: All Wacom tablet. Just got it - a 9x12 for 200. I'm freakin' addicted to it. I've been playing with line wieghts a lot, trying to get a feel for how much is too little or too much. And what's wrong with the rest of my anatomy?;) Coloring is a bit out of my range, still trying to learn color theory, and more than anything, an intuitive sense of a good palette. I'd be flattered if you'd try.
Hikari715: thanks!
SchorchingPhoenix: The background was supposed to be the pit, those are little spikes. eh. I'll be honest, I started the pic from a sketch of the two fighting and had no composition or background in mind. It wasn't until I finished inking the two that I realized a background would be nice. Architecture, backgrounds, not really my forte', but I'm practicing. The gore, well, I figured I did so many like that, I wanted to do a simpler, kleaner one.
Shadaloo: Thanks! Again, poor background planning on my part. Was hoping I could get away with the simplicity of it, but apparently not.
evilpsy: maybe it'll just be a flesh wound.
Focusing all my attention now on the fatality contest. Hope to get it done in time...

Check it out Sattch
If you really dont like the blood, clicky...
I have the .psd file if you or anyone are interested in how i colored this. Photoshop CS2 only! It was done sparringly over three or four sitting during lunch, probably adding up to 1.5hrs+? I dunno i've never actually timed myself hehe...
Sorry if you misunderstood my comment on the anatomy. I probably shouldnt have used that term because the anatomy in general looks great. I was referring more to the detail in areas such as Baraka's hands... Jade's hair... They both have excellent detail that give depth and shape. On the other hand, Jade's breasts are circles and appear flat. Extra detail could be added (in the form of shadows maybe?) that make them appear more spherical and extend from her body. Just a suggestion...
Hope you like the colors

I love it.
Props on using the tricky perspective.

yeah, color!
good work MrSchpfmut, diggin' the muted colors. I like the blood, reminds me of the old days when people used ink drops on paper for blood and fluids. My only crit is her skin is too pale - it's Jade!
Do you mind if I use your initial color work as a jumping off point to try my own colors? Really diggin' the palette and want to experiment a bit. Let me know if I can get that psd...
(sorry for the late response, been outta town on bidness)

My bad, i've done work for others and have seemed to just ditch out on mko at the same time??? lol
Anywho... I'm glad you like it. From what I've learned about colors, a lower saturation is desireable because it's a) easier on the eyes b) will print more accurately/properly c) simply, it often looks better.
When you're hunting for colors, go ahead and pick what you think is close to you're liking, then in your color picker, there's a button for color libraries. Pantone Solid Uncoated, to my knowledge is a standard for printing specific color, will give you tons of great shades to choose from. There are 4 different shades in Baraka's shoes, for example, which came from that list.
LOL @ Jade... is she Arabic, Hispanic, African American??? lol could never figure that out. But, that brings up another cool technique i've started using only because CS2 lets you... When i make my selections (pen tool), i fill each area with white then later apply a layer style to add the color (dbl click layer -> color overlay).
I could go on and on about workflow and technique... Maybe i'll put together a flatting tut

Feel free to play with the image all you'd like... PM me your email address for the .psd plzkthx!
peace
