Good! I too have never liked Kitana's costumes. Are they hot? Definitely. I just don't see a royal princess wearing something like that regardless of functionality (that can be argued). I'd expect something at LEAST on the line of what was in the MK movies.

Dedicated, hopeless...Li Mei fan.

Very lovely, i do like the design, i mean it's time for Kitana to get an outfit that is bathing suite. i mean not even her alternate outfit is any better, another bathing suite just with stockings.

i like this look for her, i mean it reminds me of the outfit from the MK movies. and i liked that outfit, simple yet not right out selling her body.

The movies? Seriously? In the movies, all she wore was a halter top and tight pants. That was the entire outfit. No details, no accessories, nothing. Just a plain leather top and tight black pants. That's just cheap and uncreative!

Secondly, she's never dressed like a princess because she wasn't raised like a princess. She's only been one since MK4.
Kitana was just a baby when Kahn became her new daddy, and Shao Kahn does not have princesses in his kingdom, he has warriors who do his bidding. She was raised to kill people, not to wear dresses and attend fancy balls. Outworld had no royal court or diplomacy or ceremonies, there was just Kahn on a throne, and everyone else fought and died in a harsh wasteland all day and night. And that was Kitana's life for ten thousand years straight until Liu Kang came along.
Fighting like a ninja is really the only thing she's experienced at, so it makes sense she kept dressing like a ninja for so long. That's what she was used to, what she learned to be comfortable in during battle.
Of course, in future games, a little change wouldn't hurt. She's a princess NOW, so I could see her wearing something more appropriate to her role.

Agreed. However, currently she is royalty, and (for all intents and purposes), the public face of the Edenian peoples, as well as commander of their armies - she should have a presence that's more than just a ninja. Not to mention, even if she were raised as a ninja, or assassin, that's still no excuse for wearing a bathing suit. If she were really a ninja - which, arguably, the closest character to a real ninja is Dairou - she wouldn't wear a costume at all, she'd purposefully try to blend in with her surroundings, meaning she'd wear regular peasant's clothes all the time. Not a bathing suit, and definitely nothing brightly colored.

Actually, it's my understanding that real world kunoichi weren't like male ninja at all, they focused on disguising themselves as geisha or prostitutes to get close and poison or stab their targets. I think showing a lot of skin follows a similar "seduction is a weapon" logic.
But MK ninja girls wear a bathing suit because in the first three games, Midway based all their characters on kung fu movies, superhero comics, and Star Wars (with a little Predator added in the cyberninja's cases).
Kitana and Mileena, for instance, were based on Elektra (and maybe Psylocke too) from Marvel Comics. Note that Mileena uses sharp, pointy sais for stabbing and in the real world, sais are blunt and used to catch weapons and disarm people.

It's less stressful in the long run, though, if when you follow fiction that focuses on martial artists, you just accept that no one likes or cares about or is entertained by what things are like in the real world. Real ninjas were ordinary people who couldn't do anything cool and they haven't existed for hundreds of years.
But everyone loves and wants fictional ninjas because they look cool and do spectacular, superhuman feats. This difference is important, especially in Mortal Kombat and especially in costume design.
Besides, Kitana's from Outworld. She has nothing to do with what Earth ninjas would have been like.

As an aside, Dairou is a terrible character. His costume design is utterly hideous, his moves are generic and have nothing to do with who he is, and his backstory is just plain bland. In fact, he's my least favorite in the ENTIRE series. I hate him more than Hsu Hao.

That may be very true, although, it's certainly changing. Movies like the new Nolan Batman series (yeah, it portrays ninjas badly too), at least try to be more realistic. But, essentially, that's right, most people don't really know what a ninja really is, and care more about brightly colored outfits and cool superpowers. I'm different, though. I would very much like to see (for instance) the Mortal Kombat reboot to be done as a movie with more emphasis on plot, with intricate twists and turns, with little emphasis on actual fighting. But, I'm different. And, you may not find my redone version of Kitana up to par with what you prefer...but maybe you and I have different preferences. You don't have to attack me for liking things another way (like your pre-edited post).

Mortal Kombat already focuses on plot, with intricate twists and turns.

It's just that the plot belongs to the sci-fi/fantasy/superhero genre.
Nolan's take on Batman works mainly because it's closer to the true version than Burton and Schumacher ever got. But there are ways in which it's flawed.
Batman has no superpowers, so the ultra-realworld style has worked so far because they've only used villains who fit that boundary. But unfortunately, some of the TRUE Batman's world is NOT realistic. Nolan may never be able to portray the full scope of Batman's mythos, because his style makes characters like Clayface and Poison Ivy too impossible or unbelievable, not to mention it basically ruins DC's ability to make a Justice League movie, because they can't use the Bale Batman, so they'll either not be able to use Batman at all or they'll have to set it in a seperate universe, which the audience doesn't want. They want everything to be connected like Marvel is doing with their Avengers films.
In the end, Nolan's Batman will always be an entertaining one, but it'll never be the REAL Batman. The real Batman is the one in the comics and so far, nobody's managed to bring THAT Batman to the screen except Bruce Timm and Paul Dini's Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited.
Now applying that to MK, obviously, ninjas who wear leotards and fight hand-to-hand aren't the only thing ancient Japan didn't have. There are no gods, realms, sorcerers, or dragons either. The dead can't come back to life with fire breathing skulls, men can't make ice out of thin air, and shaolin monks can do a lot of cool things, but they sure can't turn their chi into fireballs. So nothing in Mortal Kombat is capable of being converted into realism like Batman Begins. If you tried, the result wouldn't be Mortal Kombat anymore. It'd be completely unrecognizeable.
So it's not really about "Well you like this but I like that, it's all opinions" to me. It's about staying true to what's already been established, because that's proven to give the best results. Iron Man was just as popular as Dark Knight was, but because it placed adaptation accuracy and a spirit of fun as a higher priority than realism, it has more sequel potential because Downey's Iron Man and Sam Jackson's Nick Fury will be able to exist in the same world as completely unrealistic characters like Thor and Hulk in Avengers.
