Wasn't this series already done before...? I remember something just like it. Are you remaking it?

Anyway, it's nice to see a sprite comic that looks nice and clean, and somewhat "professional". This has been lacking from MKO.

I've actually started this comic about a year or two ago, but I've never gotten past the first two introductions, which have been stored in my hard drive this whole time. I was cleaning out my files when I stumbled upon them, and I decided that I'd continue working on them. It was more so the upcoming Mortal Kombat release that got my motivation back.

The first and second issues are being completely redone. I'm going to change my balloon shaping method and perhaps toy around with the fonts until I find a style to stick with. Anyway, I made sure to search MKO before I made this thread, just in case I already made one, but I didn't find anything. There's a good chance that you read the first editions from another site, or something. Or maybe I did post a thread for it here and asked for it to be deleted after I stopped its production. I tend to do...impulsive and needless things like that.

@Bezou I hope it does last, heh. I don't usually finish (or even advance, for that matter) what I start unless I have an unusual drive to progress.

You're telling me. I've started like 5 sprite comic series and the only one I ended (The Adventures of Spirit Liu) was a total copout.

This has lots of potential, just try to avoid the whole ]{ombat pun humor as that has been done to death already. Best of luck.

Don't listen to them - stick as many puns in your comics as possible. The more people groan, the better the joke.

Volume 1 - Chapter 1 (1) (2) (3)

The first chapter is finally out, replacing the now nonexistent introduction issue. The editing put into the Task Force HQ and positioning Jax juuuuuuust right in his chair easily consumed most of the time put into this chapter. The original post has been updated with the first chapter and empty versions of the Task Force HQ background.

What I wanted to primarily do in this first chapter was lay an overall foundation for the story. I've introduced three separate groups that will each contribute immensely to the plot in their own way. I also wanted to show off the trendy characters early on (Ermac, Johnny) and wanted to show individual personality for all the characters. Enjoy, and please tell me your thoughts.

Note: Please realize that panel seven of page one isn't an attack on homosexuality but a display of the ninjas' immaturity.

hmm... I can't find Goro in the three new issues, but I notice that there's usually one out of place sprite in them.

oh, and I like how it revolves around attacking the puns...

Issue One, Panel Two, Subby is falling over the bridge, and is on it in panel 6
Issue Two, Panel 8, Two buildings spontaneously generated in BG
In Issue Three, there really isn't one, I was thinking of the cat, but it makes sense in retrospect

Ah, right. That panel was meant to be incongruous for the sole purpose of showing the arbitrariness of the ninjas. Witty, random, even chaotic things will be brought to the table involving those guys.


This, however, is a genuine mistake. While editing Jax in that specific panel I had to reformat the background in order to place him in cleanly. I just fixed that problem and reuploaded the second page, but the backgrounds in the third page are also flawed in the same; I'll fix them later. Thanks for pointing this out.

I'm really liking this.
I'm so jealous of people who can use and manipulate sprites as I can not for the life of me figure out what to do with the buggars.

Also kudos on the positioning in these,some of them like Jax in the chair look like it must have taken some serious work to get just right and it's really great to see how youve used the fighting moves in a way that makes them seem like normal natural movements

I'd really like to see this go further and also see how the story progresses. :)
