Okay, let me get something straight: This thread only happened because I thought that I was banned. I couldn't post any threads over at the general board.

I don't draw any MK stuff, which is off-topic and won't be posted. I also draw porn stuff - another reason it won't be posted...

I'm also glad that there are more hand drawn and original concepts reappearing on the board. I've just been out of inspiration but I totally want to join in the fun. And with my low RAM I can't scan anything, even if I do finish it. :( Oh, well, great times are here again.

I was actually going to make a thread like this myself.
I got very tired of seeing nothing submitted but fakes for the last while back when I stopped in here, and no great Hand drawn/CG Artwork.

I may have a contest started up later for Hand Drawn/CG'ed Art just to try and liven the place up and get people working on more again.

I would join in the fun if I could draw as good as I want to.

Yes, yes, its good to see more drawings and sketches returning to the forum. The balance between drawings and fakes is good at the moment, no one catagory should rule over the forum. Its important to have the right combination of the two.

You know something? you keep making this type of post which really irritates me a lot. You keep saying how bored you are w/ all this fakes being posted in the fan art, are you saying fake pics are not fan art and the people that make them are not actual "Artist"? I like seeing some concept drawings or renders or sketches but also fake pics aswell. This isn't a flame, neither am I trying to slap sence into you, im just saying so I can get it off my chest.

No that's not the case Marcel. But the thing is that the Fan Art stopped for a while and the Fakes kept coming. Like you said, a balance is good. And constant fakes without drawings/CG's just didn't feel balanced. I respect fakes, but we also need to maintain variety of art forms to keep this place interesting.

Well thats not are fault, and when I say "are" im talking about myself aswell since im also a fake pic maker. A lot of people make post like "Anybody tire of fakes?" or "Wheres the cool Fan Art artist?" well a lot of those post starters talk more than they can make, if their tire of seeing fake pics then why don't they make some sketches, or whatever falls in the category of "Fan Art". Like I said its not are fault, were not machines just like "we" do fake pics when "we" have the time then the artist does sketches when he or she has the time.

I never once discredited Fake pic makers as being artists, but I have said some mean things towards them, such as half of the fakes here suck because you can tell there was no effort put into them. I know that that was wrong, because there is effort put into them. Hell, I may have been bitching and moaning about there being no hand drawn pics, but in truth, if I ever post something here it'll most likely be a fake.
I can't draw half as good as most of the people here even though I might be able to give out some pointers and advice. That's what knowledge without experience will do to you in a right-hemisphere activity such as drawing.

Well stop making this type of post its stupid and pointless, if you don't like seeing fakes then leave or tell CC or Scott to split the Fan Art. Is that why you have this problem w/ fakes being posted? then speak up instead of flaming the user that doesn't give positive feedback, sheesh. I seen how you tell people when you don't like their feedback. I mean you can't even tell me whats the point of this thread, is a waste of board space, im surprise Jonin doesn't close it.

It's pretty obvious I'm more a part of the fake's "community" as opposed to the drawing/painting etc. side of the fan art section.

That being said though, I must admit, it was nice to see some drawings in the section again. It has been quite a while since any were actually posted. I know I (and many others enjoy them), and it's definately not too nice being drowned in a sea of fakes (some of which are almost unbearable to look at).

1.) You need to read the posts.
This thread had about 3 purposes: at first it was to rejoice in this new flow of magnificent art (I know I'm giving it the 'latin explosion' treatment, but it is high quality stuff we're talking about), because it may be cut short.
Then, I revealed the ulterior motive: I thought I was banned and made this thread as a 'test'. I passed, and settled onto a third purpose that doesn't really exclude the first one: getting to know each other as artists.
You'll clearly see this at the beginning of the thread.

2.) You act as if I'm constantly trolling the Fanart forum with posts that I dislike fake pics.
The truth (as the forum search will tell you) is that I've made one thread besides this that would seem offensive to fake pics and their makers at first. Besides that, I have only 4 or 5 posts that tell of my attitude towards them.
For the final time (I hope), this is my attitude: I have nothing against people who make fake pics or fake pics in general, but if fakes are going to be the more rampant art form on this board, then they could be better than they are now. Sometimes it's apparent that someone didn't put much effort into a fake except for opening the program they made it in. My preference for hand-drawn art has little to do with this.

fakes aren't really art if you think about it because a machine and program is doing all the work,but with drawings thats art because you move the pencil you create the shapes and objects i wish i could draw.If i knew how to draw i would draw scorpion with his mask off holding cages head and have cages blood and organs all over the place leaving blood stains on scorp cages clothes and the wall.i just realized drawing can get alot of stress off of you.-DF

The computer isn't doing the thinking for you is it though?
And it doesn't do all the work at all. It has tools that may do some of the work for you, but it does require precision, patients and skill, to use a program effectively.
It requires all of the above skills (and then some) to produce the end product which is a computer graphic.
Computer Graphics are art too.

DRFATALITY: You are aware that by what you said, a computer would be randomly generating fake pics. Your ideas have nothing to do with it.

That's not true at all. Photoshop has great tools for making a fake, but you think of the fatality or situation, the background to do everything on, the characters and basically everything else. Without you powering it, Photoshop is useless, and sadly it doesn't go the other way. I've seen good fakes here that come from MSPaint.
