Any good sites? Any samples people want to show? Books you recommend? Is Maya the best for 3d modeling? 3d max?

Maya is probably a bit advanced if you think you need tutorials to use it.

Just screw around in 3DS max. That's what I did to learn it. See what buttons make what effects and such. I made my sig in 3DS max in about 5 minutes.
