LESSON 1: SPRITES, SHEETS AND PROGRAMS, OH MY!

Making a comic is like trying to perform a successful comedy joke. It requires time, knowledge, and a sense of humor. Otherwise, why make a comic?

But in order to make a comic, first you gotta make the comic. Here is how.

(NOTE: This tutorial requires Paint Shop Pro 6 or higher, if you want to learn how to properly make a comic in MS Paint, go here

So go to file and open up Paint Shop Pro. This screen should come up.

First, you’ll need to find a background. For this, you’ll want to go to a site for backgrounds and sprites like MKWarehouse or The Spriter’s Resource. When you find a background you want, simply paste onto your screen like so...

Now, let’s say...for example, you wanted to make a story about something weird, like per say...a mystical portal. Well, here’s an effect I could do that involves three steps.

1.) Select your screen using the circle tool, as shown here:

2.) Go to Effects > Distortion Effects > and Twirl.

3.) Set it to 495 degrees and click ok!

And you’re done! See how nice that looks?

Next, you’re gonna wanna put sprites on there, right? To get some, there are available to many sites. I’ll give you example of a few, and thanks to Rogultgot and Xando, I picked out Ryu and Vega for this demo comic.

So, open your sprite sheet on PSP8.

Then, select the sprite you want, and after getting rid of the background, paste the Vega sprite onto the background.

Then do the same thing with Ryu, take out, cut out, paste in. This is what it should look like...
