Before MK1 was officially released in the arcades, the game went through several names including standout "Dragon Attack" before settling on the now famous "Mortal Kombat". John Tobias revealed on twitter a sketch for the Dragon Attack logo which this piece is based on. Jean Claude Van Damme was originally in the talks to star in the first Mortal Kombat and a prime candidate for the Johnny Cage type character before OG Daniel Pesina got the role. Here is a link to John Tobias's tweet about the "Dragon Attack" sketch discovery:

The word, Attack = Onslaught.

Just a crap substandard thesis on how the RPG got opted with the name. Not often or ever is there this kind of translated relatedness in the title's of MK, but the dub Mortal Kombat is always there. The subtitle's usually different, so the games can be identified (obviousness).
